Per my conversations with Adam, the two of us thought it'd be best to start posting our listings of VGM-related purchases to the new, monthly "Soundtrack Releases" threads.  You're certainly free to still list what you'd like here, but to help encourage discussion on those albums that interest us, it'd be preferable to take it to those threads straight away.  (And, from the looks of the current month's thread, it looks like it's already off to a good start.)

---

For games, I've been on a Ys kick as of late, so might as well finish up the PSP triad with Ys I & II Chronicles.  I was mildly intrigued by Bulletstorm after the playable demo, so I think I'm going to give that a go.  (The 360 version, as I want in on that Gears 3 beta.)  Also, Bionic Commando Rearmed 2 just hit PSN and XBLA this week.  I was really hoping to pick up the PS3 version for the superior d-pad, but with talks of Capcom having implemented that dreaded DRM on the PS3 version that requires you to be LOGGED IN to the Playstation Network every time you want to play the game, I'm going to have to reevaluate my position.

Those are the definites.  Somewhat less certain is Dragon Quest VI: Realms of Revelation and Marvel vs. Capcom 3: Fate of Two Worlds.  As mentioned, I'm not far into DQIX at all that I feel I need another one in the series at this time.  And I'm just not a big enough fan of the 'Vs' series to think that I'll seriously get into MvC3.  (To those on my PS3 'Friends' list, though -- are you guys getting in on the game?)

For movies, I'm looking forward to Megamind.  Rentals will include Let Me In, Unstoppable, and Due Date.

Unfortunately, that Valkyria Chronicles: Design Archives art book that was supposed to see release on the 8th just got pushed back all the way to July.

Man, I loved Marvel vs. Capcom 2 SO MUCH back in the day.
But it's been over 10 years, and I'm really not into fighting games anymore, as Super SFIV has made painfully clear to me. I'll probably borrow it if I get the chance, but I'm not going to spend any money on it.

This month will see the release of the long-awaited 3DS in Japan.
I failed to secure a pre-order though, I'm afraid, so I probably won't be able to get my hands on one for a long (long long long LONG) time, knowing Nintendo.

What I WILL be getting my hands on, is Catherine, Atlus's bizarre erotic horror puzzle game, hitting on Feb. 17. I played the demo recently, and although I'm not really sure if the block puzzle element is strong enough to carry the game, I'm hoping everything around it will make up for it.
The total package is probably going to be more than the sum of its parts, and I'm already loving the presentation to bits, so I'll be picking this up on day one.

Must buy:

Ys I & II Chronicles (PSP)
Tactics Ogre (PSP)

Buying later:

Radiant Historia (DS)
DQ VI (DS)

Pondering:

Trinity: Souls of Zill O'll - PS3

will not buy Marvel vs. Capcom 3 because capcom decided to charge for characters. might rent or buy used later.

Wasnt aware of the delays, according to Konami's website as of Jan 11:

"KONAMI REVEALS LAUNCH DATE AND NEW SCREENS FOR HARD CORPS: UPRISING

Posted on: Jan 11 2011

Microsoft Selects KONAMI's Run-and-Gun Action Side-Scroller to be a part of Their Xbox LIVE Arcade House Party Program This Winter

Konami Digital Entertainment, Inc. today revealed the release date and pricing for Hard Corps: Uprising, which has been selected to kick off Microsoft's Xbox LIVEĀ® Arcade House Party program this winter. The first title out of five from the XBLA House Party program, Hard Corps: Uprising will be available for consumers to download on Wednesday, February 16th. Along with the release date, Konami has also revealed new screenshots to go along with ..."

Hope they hold onto the date, the game looks absolutely bad ass

yes, it looks gorgeous. i wish they would greenlight many more games with this graphics style. konami has so many great IPs in their locker.

Ys I & II Chronicles is the only game I'll be pickin' up this month.  Still slogging through Zelda Spirit Tracks - just finished the Fire Temple.

I've mentioned my soundtrack purchases in the other thread, but another CD single I'll be picking up is the latest Detective Conan opening theme.  I've been collecting them all.  (It's a lot) =p

And the 2nd set of Dissidia Trading Arts Figures is out soon too.

Also the blu-ray for the recent Doctor Who: A Christmas Carol special is out this month, picking that up for sure, and for the first time the (admittedly pretty awful) 8th Doctor TV movie is out on DVD in North America this month along with a 6 episode Pertwee jaunt called "The Mutants".

I'll be getting Ys I&II Chronicles (PSP) mostly just to continue to support Xseed's efforts of actually bringing the only true Action/RPG series we have left to the U.S (not counting whatever knock-off stuff Gameloft is busy putting on iOS).  The odds of my playing it are pretty slim.  I'm not going to get Bionic Commando Rearmed 2 (PS3) this month since I think it's overpriced, but I may get it later when it's on sale.  I'm am curious about one thing, however: does anyone know if the dreaded DRM requires you to be online the whole time you're playing, or just each time when you boot it up?  How did it work for Final Fight?  I know I could just get the 360 version, but the PS3 dpad is so much better.  For that reason, I'll be waiting on Hard Corps: Uprising until it's released for the PS3.  I may or may not get Radiant Historia (DS), but if I do it may just be as a gift for someone else.  Lastly, I don't really care for the Vs. series of fighting games (except for the two superb Capcom Vs. SNK games), so I won't be getting Marvel Vs. Capcom 3 (PS3) until it hits $20 or less.

My DS backlog includes Golden Sun, Glory of Heracles and Final Fantasy: 4 Heroes of Light, and I'm currently playing Plants vs. Zombies. My Wii backlog includes Red Steel 2, Raving Rabbids Travel in Time and Tatsunoko vs. Capcom. And I still have unplayed PS2 and Xbox games.

Therefore, not buying anything new this month (hopefully). Will probably get Dragon Quest VI and Radiant Historia later, though. Although I'm somewhat interested in the new version of You Don't Know Jack and Lost in Shadow.

Now that it's been reduced in price, I might be convinced by my girlfriend to get the Keyboard & game bundle for RockBand 3, now that it's only 5 bucks more than just the game itself...  She likes doing vocals on RockBand 2, but is crap on the guitar & drums, so she wants to try out the keys.

Followup: Damnit, just went to buy it, only to get to the register and find it was mislabeled in the wrong spot on the shelf, and that it's still full price ($110, rather than the $45 like the shelf tag said).

Guess I could have raised a fuss and demanded it at that price, but I was nice about it with a "you better move it out of that wrong spot then" and left.

February is looking to be a busy month.

YES:
I have DQVI, Radiant Historia and Ys I & II Chronicles waiting for me already, with an eye toward de Blob 2 and Mario Sports Mix if finances allow. I'd also like to get Tactics Ogre, but it'll probably be an import of the European edition if I do (as an aside, it's kind of funny how S-E gives us almost no incentive to buy the American releases of their games, DQVI's Slime stuffy a happy exception. Europe gets a soundtrack CD and an artbook for their trouble, and we get...tarot cards?).

NO:
I'm skipping Marvel vs Capcom 3 right now, as I'm hoping they'll make the roster more interesting later (I like that they've added Hsien-Ko and Deadpool, but seriously, why do you need Trish and Dreadlock Spencer? At least they spared us Frank West), and the combination of the DRM business and disappointing reviews have moved Rearmed 2 to the backburner. Finally, while I find Neptunia's concept amusing, I'm not sure it's $60 worth of amusing.

EDIT: Whoops, forgot Uprising. Definitely curious how that'll turn out.

Oooh, tell me more!  I've been thinking about importing The Last Window but haven't really found an option I'm super happy with.  How are shipping rates from that place?

Amazon's updated the listing again, this time to April 27th.
