Update again using IGN's release list 9/12/06

I scoured about the E3 articles trying to come up with an answer to the "E3 impressions" thread when I started jotting down answers to one of my E3 disappointments:  a lack of at least a launch list of games for the Wii.  Here are my notes, broken down by release date, then publisher, title, and source.  I still don't have an answer to the E3 impressions thread.  I'm certain this list will change---additions, delays, cancellations.

*bump*  28 launch titles NOT counting the Virtual Console!?

Qui-Gon Joe Sep 12, 2006

I would say the chances of seeing either Dragon Quest Swords or FFCC at launch are practically nil at this point.

Ryu Sep 12, 2006

Yeah, I agree and I'm guessing Nintendo will thin out this list Thursday, but I've not read anything substantial actually stating a 'delay' yet.

Virtual Console? Man, I really need to get up to speed on my Wii marketing info...especially if a Zelda game is going to be on whatever that device is.

Ryu Sep 13, 2006

Virtual Console is what Nintendo calls its retro download service that allows users to play NES, SNES, N64, Genesis, and Turbografx-16 games.

Does it make sense to release two huge Nintendo titles (Zelda & Metroid Prime) both at launch? I hope they do though.

And I am SO getting Bob Ross's Joy of Painting.
Twice.

Yes, because Sony has dogshit for their launch (or at least nothing that could be justified spending $700 to play). Might as well hit them while they're down.

Also, Nintendo will have the European market to themselves, so why not build a fanbase before PS3 launches.

Plus, both Smash Brothers and Mario Galaxy aren't too far down the line...Not sure what's past them though.

I'm not the biggest fan of either franchise, but it does have the star power the Gamecube launch lacked. I do want to try Metroid Prime with the Wii controller though..."Aiming" it like Samus' blaster looks like a blast (pardon the pun).

Not that this question means anything, but Ryu, I'm curious to know what titles you are looking forward to the most, and why.
