I don't know anything about indie games.
Is this some big thing in the indie scene?

The music is great, I might pledge $30 just to get the OST.

It's not apparently a big thing on the scene, but a really damn promising thing on the scene. Which made me back 50 capitalist bucks for it.

I would say very few indie games are "big" since they are by definition games developed by small groups of people with low budgets. That said, I find that many indie games are just as good or better than multi-million dollar games produced these days. While a game such as Final Fantasy XIII and it's numerous sequels may have better graphics, numerous cutscenes, etc. it's still not necessarily fun to play. Indie games are made by small groups of people who just want their games to be fun. That said, this particular game looks like it's going to be a winner because the people behind it love "classic" games and they have lots of talent (as evidenced by the awesome music). I think we should support small-developers, since I think they really care.

On the other hand, some larger companies don't seem to care to much:

500 people get to pledge $10 and get the game. Then you have to pledge $15. Obviously that's still less than the game costs, but I find that pretty off-putting.

So no support from me, especially given it's gonna be a year...

It's called an early-bird special. I don't see what the big deal is, but hey everyone is entitled to his or her own decisions. I certainly don't understand what you mean by this:

"especially given it's gonna be a year..."

since, every year, is by definition a year tongue

I checked out the kickstarter, but the art style and animation aren't doing anything for me, so I'm probably going to pass. The music is pretty great, though. I'd buy the soundtrack, but I'm not sure I want to spend $50 just to get it over a year from now.

A year, at least, before the game comes out. I understand that most KS projects are this way, but it's just another factor.

I *am* looking forward to the game, and if it's anything like most it's certainly likely to be reletively cheap on Steam eventually.

And yeah I really liked the soundtrack samples too, but it's $30 for the digital version at minimum so yeah...

You do also get the game with the $30. The game will be priced at $20, so you're basically paying $10 for the soundtrack. Plus, you're helping an indie group, so I think it's totally reasonable smile

True. Maybe if I get a better job in the next three weeks...
