The score has been announced for Oct. 6, a week before the DVD release. All rejoice!

Definitely off-topic, but is it just me or are DVDs coming out super fast now? I remember waiting months for a DVD release, and now movies are barely out of the theaters before they're already pressed and on the shelves.

Well, I don't really see why it would take all that long to have DVDs on shelves after a movie has hit theaters anyway, but Transformers is coming out unexpectedly fast.  Especially if it is compared to At World's End, which was theatrically released in May but doesn't come out on DVD until December.  I'm really complaining about a sooner release for Transformers and will pick up the HD-DVD release.  Not sure about the score, as I really don't remember it, other than it failed to make any use of the classic theme.

Failed is right. The score was about as memorable as 'The Rock' soundtrack, or any other Michael Bay production.  I would have rathered listen to Peter Griffin in a fart off between Michael Moore

The Rock at least had a kickass opening theme...but I digress.

Honestly, I don't really remember much about the Transformers score.  I know it's by someone in Team Zimmer (Steve Jablonsky?), but apart from that...it wasn't terribly memorable.

I remember there being a couple of semi-moving musical moments when I watched it in the theater so I plan to give the score album a good listen at least.  Anyone familiar with the composer... (checks IMDB) Steve Jablonsky?  Apparently he's done work on Command & Conquer 3 and Metal Gear Solid 2.

He wrote the score for the anime movie Steamboy. It's quite good, worth buying the (domestic) CD of.
The other two or three scores I've heard were pretty boring, though I haven't heard Transformers...

I do concede that much of Zimmer's work and those in Remote Control Studios is similar, but I can't get enough of it. It is really energizing music, the Rock being the best of them.

So Transformers gave me more of what I already liked. Also Zimmer's range on the Pirates scores is definitely wider than the average fan gives him credit for.

Well, I particularly liked the Decpticon theme in Transformers. I'll buy the soundtrack for that track alone. Some of the other music was good as well, but, I suppose, not particularly memorable overall.

As far as Zimmer himself goes, I thought his score for the Peacemaker was brilliant. Only five tracks on the soundtrack, though they were on the longer side ...
