Uematsu Interview

Very nice find, Godai. A good read indeed. Uematsu has definitely been busy lately. The finished products of his work should be very interesting.

"Uematsu: This time, we will release a double album. The first CD will contain the usual arranged  Final Fantasy themes. But the second disc will be something new. We're trying to represent old japanese folk tales in terms of music."

This will be different. Being that it's the Black Mages, I don't think we need to question the prowess of the "folk tale" music against roaring guitars on the other disc. I might've been hoping for a reprisal of Star Onions-style music.

Anyway, I'm kind of disheartened Uematsu left out any mention of Mr. Goo making a return...

Huh.  This should be interesting.  I'll look forward to it.

In another interview, he said this second disc would be rock opera.

Yeah. Here's the question and answer from that interview:

You are working with The Black Mages on the band’s third album. We are very much looking forward to it. Do you think you can reveal the name of one song that will be included?

- The tracklist is still a secret, but there is a possibility it will be a double disc album. In that case, one disc will be as the two previous albums, with arrangements of tunes from Final Fantasy. The other disc will then maybe have newly composed songs in rock-operatic style, based on Japanese mythology.
