Street Fighter II, the most iconic fighting game of all time, is back on the Nintendo Switch!

I'm probably going to get a bunch of hate for this - and no, I'm not trying (keyword: trying) to derail the thread and start an argument - but there's a part of me that, oh, I don't know... is kind of sick of Street Fighter II being ported to every console in existence.

I'm not trying to deny it's place in history or its influence, and yeah, I probably don't get the big deal considering I didn't cut my fighting game teeth on SFII - hell, I never played a SF until Alpha 2 on the SNES in 1995/6 - but by this point you'd think every human being alive would have experienced this by now or have some version of it laying around on a hard-drive somewhere. That said, this is one of those games I'd like to see adoption rates for based on age - that would be very interesting data to comb through.

Anyway, sorry. Hopefully someone can turn the thread around. Again, sorry.

This makes zero sense as a release (and I say this as a fan of Super Turbo). A 20+ year old game updated on a brand new console that is most definitely NOT geared towards fighters/fighting game fans (cue the "Smash is not a fighting game" chants). Between the Switch controls and the lag from wireless controls...Why did they bother? At least on PS4, they could syphon off a couple people who are fed up with Street Fighter V and are looking for a diversion.

This release smells of "contractual obligations", probably for having Ryu in Smash Brothers Wii U.

Gotta have some Capcom games to play with all the SNK Neo Geo games available on Switch. You may be right to speculate that Ryu in Smash made a Street Fighter game inevitable (or "contractual" to use your exact wording) for Switch, GoldFish. Bomberman and Street Fighter -- two titles evoking 90's nostalgia and multi-player excellence staring consumers in the face with beautiful box art on store shelves in 2017. Nice.

They'll definitely need to have more pro controllers available before this game launches. Hopefully Hori releases a Switch fighting gamepad for it. Maybe Nintendo will have a special D-pad left joy-con controller...

I LOL'd at Violent Ken. Isn't the original kind of violent?! This isn't the first we've seen of him but I must say for the lack of innovation, the game looks so crisp. I'm highly, nostalgically tickled.
