This is a shot in the dark, but does anyone have the first Uncharted Waters OST, or the OST to the second Uncharted Waters?  I'm not talking about the OST 2 Special Edition, but the other two that came before it.  Thanks.

Thomas Mar 20, 2006

I presume you're referring to the arranged ones? I'm highly interested in those as well, especially the first; seen it on eBay four years ago, lost the sniping and have yet to see it again.

Uncharted Waters II Special Edition is an arranged album.  The original OST are on some Koei BGM albums.  vgmworld.com has one of them.  The OST shares disc space with another Koei game OST.

How are the arrangements from UW Arrange that didn't make it to UW II Special?

UW II Special Edition includes every track that was on the original UW II OST, plus 5 tracks from the UW OST.  The UW OST has a total of 11 tracks, so 6 of them didn't make it to the UW II Special Editon.  Those 6 tracks are:

A Siren Song
Portugal
The Palace
A Symphony of Pirates
Princess Chris
The Card Master.

Of those 6, Portugal and Princess Chris can be found on the KOEI Game Music Works: Yoko Kanno, KECH-1045.

I don't know if A Siren Song, The Palace, A Symphony of Pirates, or The Card Master ever showed up again.  Does anyone know?

KOEI Battle Special Vol. 2 has the song A Symphony of Pirates on it and you can buy it at www.play-asia.com.

Okay, good.  Thanks!  What about A Siren Song, The Palace, and The Card Master?  Anyone?

I'm not asking about the OST II Special Edition.  Everyone has that-hell, I have one of those.  They're everywhere.  My query was about the first two OSTs, the originals.  I want to get a sense of how rare they are.

Almost impossible to find, they were released in the early 90s with no reprint. It says they are very rare in the review of UWII:SE on RPGfan.

I've listened to their contents yes, but I don't have the originals onhand.
If you want samples just email me.

Uncharted Waters (Arranged) album is KECH-1002.  Some of the same tracks here are identical to those appearing on UW II SE and other albums, so I'll use those as comparisions since that's what you have handy.

Portugal, Olive Wind, and Symphony of Pirates are all standout tracks.  Card Master is a SUPERB slow saxaphone piece with piano accompanyment, while Southern Twilight is an 8 minute Sade-styled smooth jazz number.  There's also 3 vocal tracks.

Here's the track-by-track breakdown:
Looks like only 2 are exclusive, and they are pretty basic, nothing very elaborate.

01 Opening~Endless Voyage  (identical to UW II SE)
02 A Siren Song   (Exclusive to this album, childrens choir solo vocal, no instruments)
03 Echoes of the Middle Ages  (identical to UW II SE)
04 Portugal  (identical to Game Music Works: Yoko Kanno)
05 Olive Wind  (identical to UW II SE)
06 The Palace  (Exclusive to this album, solo organ church theme)
07 A Symphony of Pirates  (identical to the Best of KOEI Vol.2)
08 Princess Chris (identical to Game Music Works: Yoko Kanno)
09 The Card Master (identical to the Best of KOEI Vol.2)
10 Southern Twilight ~ Dance on the Cape of Good Hope (identical to UW II SE)
11 Ending -Seven Seas- (identical to UW II SE)

Yeah this is harder to find than UW II, but it still pops up at Yahoo Japan Auctions every now and then, so it is certainly "findable" with some patience.  Best of KOEI Vol.2 is pretty elusive though, although I have managed to purchase all 5 Best of KOEI albums in the past though, so it's certainly not impossible.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Uncharted Waters (Original) album is KECH-1005.  The full title is "Koei Original BGM Collection Volume 4: Uncharted Waters + Grade Up Version".

I'm assuming you're not looking for this album when you say [Originals], as these are the in-game sounds and not the superbly enjoyable live performances.

The two Upgrade tracks are medleys (11 minutes and 10 minutes) of nice quality synths, but obviously nowhere near as good as the live studio performances & acoustics of the full arrange album mentioned above.

The rest of the 21 track OST is basic synth that sounds somewhat about 16-bit SNES quality.

Yeah, I'm talking about KECH-1002 and KECH-1036.  Sorry if there was any confusion.  Not in-game, but rather arranged, with real instruments and such.  Does anyone have KECH-1002 and/or KECH-1036?  You can see all of the album covers here: http://dodue.free.fr/ykw/disco/discochrono.htm

Zaggart, let me introduce you to my good friend, CDJapan.com:

Man in the Desert Apr 23, 2006 (edited Apr 23, 2006)

Thanks again for everyone's help, especially you Carl.  I got my Uncharted Waters OST, KECH-1002, this afternoon, and I'm loving it.  I also got both Napple Tale OSTs(the reason I sought out this forum in the first place) and every Nobunaga's Ambition soundtrack that Yoko Kanno composed music in with all your help, so thanks for that, too.  Can anyone tell I'm a huge freakin' Yoko Kanno fan?  lol...

Thanks again you guys!
