Awhile ago I came across an effort by 2ch to compile a list of 700 awesome video game tunes as voted on by the community (their top entries I compiled here: http://blog.hardcoregaming101.net/2011/ … f-all.html). I'm attempting to do the same for the English speaking community, to formulate a large playlist (not sure how big yet) of quality music through these votes that I hope can stand apart from the usual personal BEST VGM 545 lists on Youtube. Since I want a wide range of stuff I'm allowing 100 tracks per person to be voted on. Do you know which level this corresponds to in the game? I can't seem to match up the track names to the actual songs, since there're not listed in-game. Thanks!

'Open You Mind' is from mission 2 in Neo Contra.

EDIT: Took a bit longer than I expected, but I think I'm happy with this list. I stuck to one track per game to keep it more diverse, but ultimately a lot of my quirkier picks got jettisoned. Ah well.

I would have if I could (as that arrange is my favorite FF track ever), but the rules stipulated in-game versions only - the KoF track is allowed because SNK apparently used their ASTs for the CD versions of the games. The PCM isn't great, but there's a certain nostalgic quality to it (especially if you've played said game thirty times through, like I have), and really I just wanted it represented.

On the other hand, I've since reconsidered submitting some of the other tracks because the OST versions are too inferior to the arranged versions I had in mind. I'm about to edit that previous post, but just to highlight it here as well, I'm replacing these tracks -

It's a surprisingly good list for what I've gotten through so far. My biggest disagreement at this point is Storm Eagle ranking in before Spark Mandrill
