I just got my first smart phone. I was using a Samsung Gravity for years, and every year it broke I would buy a brand new one. Now I have been forced to upgrade to a Galaxy. I have some space to burn on my unit. What music library apps do you guys like to use? I've seen some listicles but they are so vague as to why the app is good save for the "48 different presets" they tout. I've been using Samsung Music, and it's decent but I'm looking for something a little bit more feature rich.

I don't use "music libraries" but Foobar2000 is on Android, so there's no reason not to use that.

I've been very pleased with Pi Music Player for my S9. It lets me play music from a folder, mark favorites and can shuffle from the full library. For the car usage, that is great by me.

The S9's sound quality blew me away, so I play music on it far more than I thought I would be. The Tube amplifier setting is a must for it, it takes that hard edge off of the music.

If this was in regard to an Android music player with good features for browsing your local music library, I've been using Poweramp for that for years. The recent, drastic UI redesign was confusing and hard to consider a clear improvement, but now that I'm used to it and they've pushed some updates I'm pretty happy with it again.

That said, what I would really like is an Android music player that supports browsing by custom tags. I want to better organize my VGM collection with custom tags like series (eg Final Fantasy) and series title (Final Fantasy VI), not to mention arranger. I can do this no problem on my PC with MusicBee but the lack of smartphone app support is holding me back.
