The last game I was really excited about was Dark Souls II. That ended up being a bit of a disappointment. Not a huge disappointment, but still it was less than I expected. All that said, I am reminded of Stevenson who said "To travel hopefully is a better thing than to arrive". Not always, but sometimes. Nevertheless, there are a few upcoming games I'm really looking forward to:

Antharion
Bound by Flame
Divinity Original Sin
Dragon Age Inquisition
The Witcher 3

Yourself?

Ashley Winchester May 8, 2014

To be honest there isn't much I'm looking forward to. Most of the games I'm interested in (Kingdom Hearts III and Final Fantasy XV) were just announced last year and are a long ways off which means there is no reason to go next, er... current gen yet or anytime soon. I also need to catch up with those franchises prior to those releases anyway.

I guess I should be excited for Mighty No.9 or Kenji's Mega Man Zero clone but in all truth I'm not. Well, I'm more interested in the music than the games. Also, am I wrong in thinking Mighty is going to be digital only? Doesn't seem like the kind game to get a physical release.

Outside that the only game on my radar is Kingdom Hearts 2.5 HD Remix. I'd like to get the latest Castlevania as well but everyone and their mother is telling me to wait for a price drop on that one.

Amazingu May 8, 2014

Same as Ashley, really looking forward to KH 2.5 HD, KH3 and FFXV, even if none of them have release dates yet (I guess 2.5 HD should be coming this year though?).

The absolute number one on my list is "X" though.
We still don't even know what the actual title is going to be (I'm assuming it won't actually be "X"), but the fact that it is the spiritual sequel to Xenoblade is enough to make me crazy with excitement.

Should be coming this year, but who knows.

absuplendous May 8, 2014

Pokémon aside, I'm crossing my fingers that Sega's recent 3DS Outrun port gets a North American release. I'm really surprised that clean recordings of the two new BGM tracks haven't surfaced yet...

Angela May 9, 2014 (edited May 10, 2014)

Theatrhythm Final Fantasy: Curtain Call is the only one on the immediate horizon.  That, along with Danganronpa 2: Goodbye Despair, which will be the push I need to finally get myself a Vita.

I would like to believe that we'll be getting Professor Layton vs. Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney here in the States this year, but who knows what's going on with that one.

The_Paladin May 9, 2014

Batman: Arkham Knight and Dragon Age: Inquisition are the two major titles I'm anticipating most right now.  There are also a number of Kickstarter games I funded that are supposed to come out this year, though Shovel Knight should be the first coming.

Pellasos May 11, 2014

MGSV: The Phantom Pain. no release date yet. i expect to wait a year sad

can't say i'm terribly excited for another game currently. Project Beast maybe, but that's even further away.

Qui-Gon Joe May 11, 2014

VERY little on the horizon for me.  Mario Kart 8, Smash. Bros. Wii U, and Monolithsoft's new game, then eventually KH3 and FFXV?  There's not a lot currently announced for any platform that I'm really really excited about.

GoldfishX May 11, 2014

Not too much, but I have been following the Oculus Rift impressions from the beta units that have been shipped out. I'm not holding my breath on it, but it could be a way to breathe some much-needed realism into 3D games if it's done right. The first person 8-bit Zelda game caught my interest, for obvious reasons. And one demo is an SNES emulator that has you in a giant room in front of a giant screen. Talk about escapism!

XLord007 May 11, 2014 (edited May 11, 2014)

So far, here's what I'm looking forward to (in no particular order):

Shovel Knight
-Classic Duck Tales/Zelda II pogo attack gameplay!

Shantae and the Pirate's Curse
-The third and possibly last of the pixel-based Shantae games, this series exudes charm and sharp Metroivania gameplay.

Shantae: Half-Genie Hero
-I'm less enthused for this one than the last one due to the change in art style, but I'm still pumped.

The Legend of Zelda Wii U
-This one is late 2015 at the earliest, but I can't wait to see what Nintendo does with this one.

Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain
-Ground Zeroes was a tasty appetizer. Bring on the main course!

The Evil Within
-PAX East previews were kinda negative on this one, but I'm hoping Mikami can get it together in time for its late August release.

Axiom Verge
-Metroivania with interesting glitch tricks? I'm in.

Hyper Light Drifter
-Lovely Action/RPG; sort of Ys gameplay meets Fez art.

Chasm
-Ys 3 meets SOTN. Yes, please.

Escape Goat 2
-It's out on PC now, but I'm waiting for the PS4 port. The first one was single-room action/puzzling at its finest, and I'm ready for more Goat and Mouse adventures.

Kero Blaster
-Out now on PC and iOS, I'm waiting for a console or portable port (not yet announced), but it's a fun 2D shooter.

Tomodachi Life
-It's not much of a game, but I'm curious to see just how weird it is.

Mario Kart 8
-Maybe just because all the journos are talking about it on Twitter, but I'm curious to try this series' HD debut.

The Last Guardian
-Probably vaporware at this point, but if there's any chance this game isn't dead, it would shoot right to the top of my most wanted list. A man can dream, can't he?

Bravely Second
-I still haven't finished the first game, but the modern conveniences they added made me stand up and take notice, and I'll be watching for news of its sequel intently.

The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky Second Chapter
-I own but haven't played the first one, but with music as lovely as this series has, how could I not support it?

Dai Gyakuten Saiban
-Shu Takami returns to the Ace Attorney series! Capcom better not even think of keeping this one in Japan like Investigations 2.

Cosmic Star Heroine
-Inspired by Chrono Trigger and the classic Phantasy Star games, I'm interested in seeing how this one turns out.

La Mulana 2
-I couldn't get very far in the first one, but I enjoyed what I was able to achieve. They say this one will be somewhat more accessible, but still hard as nails.

Untitled Tomb Raider Sequel
-It's no secret that I adored the 2013 reboot of the Tomb Raider series. The sequel is under development now, and I'm hoping for great things.

That's hilarious! Hope the gameplay ends up a little better than it looks, though.

Tons of awesome PS4 games on the horizon:

Witcher 3 -Complete Edition big_smile
Among the Sleep
Steamworld Collection
Shantae
Bioshock Collection
...and more

So, I know the Witcher and Shantae are also available on other systems, but overall I think it's clear here that currently the PS4 is dominating consoles. Sure, you could play Among the Sleep on your PC, but personally I find console gaming easier in general.

The real question is will I have time to play any of these... hmmm, I'll make time. Come winter, and I've recently heard that winter is coming... tongue

I read this and I was like "Oh I didn't know they'd announced this already. Well, it was pretty much a given" so I looked it up and apparently it's coming at the end of this month!? o.O
That went from "I'll buy it whenever they decide to make it" to "oh it's coming in 2 weeks"...

Which means I'll be giving priority to Persona 5 (sorry, Geralt) on 9/15.
FFXV just got pushed back another 2 months, but I can live with that because October has

The Last Guardian
World of Final Fantasy
Rise of the Tomb Raider

And probably some stuff I'm forgetting.
The upcoming months are going to be crazy!

Haha! yup. I was sure I'd hear about this as some annoucement "Witcher Complete Edition coming at end of October" or something like that. Nope. Instead they were like "here, this is for you". What is it? "It's what you've been waiting for. Yeah, we decided to skip the publicity, so you gonna take it or what?" yikes

FuryofFrog Aug 16, 2016

The King of Fighters 14
Injustice 2
Garou Mark of the Wolves (PS4)
Pokemon Moon

I guess I don't have much on my list as of now but I gotta say, its a damn good time to be a fighting gamer.

Why am I thinking that this already came out when it hasn't. Maybe because I saw some demo footage?

The game has been kicking around since about E3, it kinda looks finished but more characters remain to be seen. Funny enough more reveals tomorrow at Gamescom big_smile

XLord007 Aug 26, 2016

I'm so far behind on games these days that I'm mostly looking forward to playing games that I already have or buying older games as they go on sale, but as for games that aren't out yet that I'm looking forward to, let's try these:

-Shantae: Half Genie Hero
-Cosmic Star Heroine
-The Last Guardian
-Rise of the Tomb Raider 20-Year Celebration
-Owlboy
-Detroit: Become Human
-The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild

Ashley Winchester Aug 26, 2016

I don't know why this is coming to mind to me at those moment, but no one's excited for FFXV?

I played the Platinum Demo and thought it was very mediocre. I'll pass.

TerraEpon Aug 27, 2016

I'll be exited when they announce a PC port,

As far as I know there are two games for sure coming out this year I'm anticipating. Shantae (of course) which I backed, and Dragon Quest VII which I've already put in my order for (NOT 'pre-ordered' in the sense people use these days, really...)

Well ok three if you include Planet Coaster, I guess.

I don't even try to keep up with Final Fantasy any more. I played them in the "early days" when they were innovative and exciting. I played VII, didn't like it (terrible story in my opinion). Tried a little bit of VIII and IX, and realized the series was heading in a direction I did not care for.

I pretty much gave up after X and I'm fine with that. Making XI online really put a kink in the pattern IMO.

Ah yeah, totally forgot about that. Isn't the last Dragon Quest also online? I have no problem with those that enjoy online games, but I personally have zero interest in them. I wonder how successful they have been? I know that online games are particularly popular in China. Also, World of Warcraft has made billions. Other games?
