So, there're 3 soundtracks:

Wild Arms OGS/Original Game Sound: http://www.rpgfan.com/soundtracks/wa/index.html

Wild Arms Complete Tracks: http://www.rpgfan.com/soundtracks/wa-co … index.html

Wild Arms: Alter Code F (Supposedly a remake of the first Wild Arms): http://www.rpgfan.com/soundtracks/waacf/index.html

NOW, I want the *best* version of the first Wild Arms soundtrack.

Which makes me ask, which, in your opinion, is the best version of the first Wild Arms soundtrack?

Qui-Gon Joe Jan 16, 2008

I would go for WA Complete Tracks, as it contains the entire OST to the original game.  OGS is incomplete and Alter Code F's music isn't the same as the original game's.

Ramza Jan 16, 2008

Complete Tracks is what you want.

Kirin Lemon Jan 16, 2008

Yep, Complete Tracks is the way to go!

Ashley Winchester Jan 16, 2008

I perfer to have both the OGS and Complete Tracks, here's why:

Complete tracks is great, but since it's basically the music straight from the PSX/game some of the tracks are somewhat flat sounding - Critical Hit! and Battle ~ Zelk are the best examples. These tracks have a lot more depth to them on the OGS because of additional mastering. At the very least compare those two tracks from their respective soundtracks to hear the difference. Most tracks the difference is almost nil.

However, if you're going for one soundtrack Complete Tracks is definately the way to go... there are so many good songs missing from the OGS. If only they added the awesome American Ending theme it be truly complete - I know, some ppl are never satisfied.

As for Alter Code:F I wouldn't check it out based on what you like from the original. My personal experience with ACF is that the tracks that aren't revived from the past are the best and the reason to own the soundtrack. Not to self promote myself but you can read my thoughts about it here: http://www.squareenixmusic.com/reviews/ … rmsf.shtml

Thanks for all the input!

Based on what I've heard, I'll probably end up just buying all 3.

I'll probably take the tracks that are part of the OGS over the versions offered in the Complete Tracks or Alter Code F. I'll then take the missing tracks from Complete Tracks, and then finally bond in the original material from Alter Code F to make:

THE FRANKENSTEIN MONSTER WILD ARMS 1 PLAYLIST!!

It'll be a work to behold once it's done, I'm sure...

The cover graphic for the OGS looks really nice...I'm gonna see if I can find a textless version I can use a desktop wallpaper.

Between Wild Arms 4 & V (5), I've become a series game and music fan, and I'm even taking retrospectives of the past games...so, yeah.

The bright mood of the music really contrasts with all of the dark, medieval, otherwise militaristic stuff I've been listening to lately.

Been on kind of a Wild West kick lately, actually.

You can thank me whenever you wish.

P.S. I love the Alter code-F soundtrack. It's the first Wild Arms soundtrack I purchased. The original WA soundtrack(s) being great as well, but in a different way.

AWESOME googleDoc. Thank you!

btw, they just released Wild Arms on PlayStation Network a few weeks ago. I'm playing through it now. SOOOOO good. Last time I played this was 10 years ago.

Wow, I never noticed some of the tracks had any differences....the complete tracks are also slightly louder over all, that I did notice...

No problem. I'm glad there was some interest for this document outside of my own curiousity.

Also, I tightened up some of the columns on there manually. Google doesn't seem to autosize columns as well as Excel. ={

The same piece has a different title between the 3 albums?? Maaannn...

In which case, I WILL thank you, seeing as how that will DEFINITELY save me a monumental amount of time from rooting through ALL of it...

It's not even something I personally need, but I still thank you - that is a really impressive spreadsheet there and I'm sure it will be of great benefit to anyone wondering about this.

You're welcome, guys. If you have any additions or corrections to make to it, you can let me know and I'll do it, or maybe I could just make you a contributor.

The only two things I can think of is Critical Hit, which definately has more depth to it on the OGS much like Battle ~ Zelk and there is somewhat of a difference in sound between Zed's themes on both CD's.

Good catch. Updated.

Nothing terribly important, but the transliteration of "Earth Gals" has been irritating me for years in all the various places I've seen it. It's supposed to be "Asgard" (well, technically Ásgarðr). アースガルズ

I always wondered about this... correct me if I'm wrong, the Earth Golem (which I don't doubt its name being Asgard) is never reffered to by name like the other golems in the original, but can anyone vouch for it being revealed ACF? I played the game but remember almost nothing about it due it being rather uninspired.

Haven't played ACF in a few years, so I checked the game script on gamefaqs:

Ushcabob's game script on GameFAQs wrote:

Emma:
First off, its name is Asgard, meaning 'Fortress of the Gods'. The anti-phasing
shields that were installed on both arms seem to be the source of its name.
Secondly, it's well-preserved. This Golem is only shut off, not damaged. In
other worlds, it's just in sleep mode.

Likewise, I also checked the original game's script, and you're right: they only ever call it the Earth Golem, despite it being called Asgard in the Japanese. Can't attest to that personally as I haven't played through the game in Japanese, but I did look up several FAQs in Japanese (specifically for the original as opposed to ACF) to make sure I wasn't just spouting crap.

I'm only using the track titles as they were labeled on the #gamemp3s releases. However, if you have any other translation corrections, let me know. Perhaps these can be added on VGMdb when that comes back up.

I know it's been over a month since this thread was updated, but I was just reading Wikipedia and came across Black Madonna, and that seems to be exactly the term that they were trying to convey with the track title "Holy Mother of Darkness" (暗黒の聖母), so I changed the title of the track on VGMdb, along with the aforementioned Asgardh. Again, not a big deal; I just thought it was an interesting little tidbit.

Thanks. I updated the spreadsheet.
