Not a whole lot on the horizon for me, save for Wallace & Gromit: The Curse of The Were-Rabbit DVD, and Super Princess Peach -- both titles I've been pining for, for the better part of the last four months.  I'm also thinking about Grandia III, but I just might save that for the summer lull.

I'm also backtracking a bit in regards to soundtracks; just a bit further back for Hime Trance, which was released last week -- and quite a bit further back for the Wangan Midnight MT2 OST, which I missed out on last year.  I've heard mostly good things about the latter, but I'm still very much intrigued by the former; shdwrlm, any opinions on Hime yet? :)

If I could read Japanese....Baten Kaitos II would be on the list. Maybe the soundtrack if it gets a February release date.

Qui-Gon Joe Jan 30, 2006

Sadly, it's probably highly unlikely that BK2 will be getting an OST release in February.  There's a video up on the website with a cool vocal track in the background though, if you'd like to hear a sample of what to expect.

As for my February purchases, I already have Super Monkey Ball DS and Super Princess Peach from their Japanese relesases (SMBDS IS coming out in February in the states, right?), so I don't need to worry about those.  I have some friends visiting in me in mid-march, so I'll probably have them bring me copies of Grandia III and Chibi Robo, the latter of which is one of my most wanted right now.  Lastly, Shadow Hearts III comes out in March, not February, right?

Angela, I beg of you, don't wait too long for Hime Trance! A friend of mine described it as the most fulfilling listening experience (in terms of dance music) he's had since listening to the DDR 3rd MIX Nonstop, and I'm inclined to agree. The new remixes are simply outstanding, infusing the old classics with an incredible new energy that's been somewhat lacking in recent Dancemania releases. The vocals remain largely the same, thankfully, although "Moonlight Shadow" was pitched up just a tad and "Dub-I-Dub" lacks the verses.  Despite the pitched up vocals, however, "Moonlight Shadow" remains astoundingly beautiful; "Titanic" is the first thing that comes to mind. Aside from the Dancemania remixes, the rest of the album is mostly full of cutesy J-Trance, sort of akin to Misa's body of work.

Here's the full tracklist again: http://shdwrlm3.livejournal.com/15030.html

And I've posted a few samples here (which may also appeal to any DDR fans out there):
http://dancemania-ex.com/hime/

The samples are pretty indicative of how the album sounds as a whole: energetic and trance ravey. It definitely gets my highest recommendation!

BTW, Angela, have you heard the news about DDR SuperNova, the upcoming DDR arcade release?  The licenses they've announced so far are certainly interesting:

Long Train Running / X-Treme
What A Wonderful World / Beat Box vs DJ Miko (!!!)
Toxic (FT Company Edit) / Helen
A Love Like This / Pandora (!!!!)

As for my February gets, I just noticed that GameFAQs has Mega Man Annivesary Collection for GBA listed for a February 15 release.  Can it truly be coming out at last? It's just a day before my birthday, so if it doesn't come out, Capcom will have officially ruined my birthday.

I'm also sort of looking forward to the DDR Festival & Strike OST (also coming out on the 15th).  Most of the songs don't really appeal to me, but Akira Yamaoka's Bemani-related works are surprisingly addictive.  The Sengoku Musou 2 OST may also warrant a purchase, but I'll have to listen to some samples first.

Msia Jan 30, 2006

Just Grandia III right now.

Wanderer Jan 30, 2006

Nothing for this month. I'm broke and I have DQ8 to work on (just beat Shadow Hearts 2).

Eiolon Jan 31, 2006

Both Tales of Eternia and Breath of Fire III for PSP.  They come out the same day so that will keep me busy for a long while.

Dangit....*another* Moonlight Shadow remix for me to get?!? I'm not supposed to be spending money! *sob*

Peach ships in the U.S. on 2/27.
SH3 ships in the U.S. on 3/7.

GameFAQs is wrong.  It's not coming out in February (if ever,  the game isn't even on Capcom's website anymore).  Capcom has ruined your birthday.

It's not coming out at all.  It's been put on indefinite hold.

In spite of some dodgy reports, I'm going to give Resident Evil DS a go. Aside from that, I don't know. Saw 2 dvd. Something else I wanted on dvd comes out this month too and I can't remember what it is...

Edit: Oh yeah - it's Lost Highway, getting a rerelease this month over here.

Those samples are incredible!  At least, Butterfly and Moonlight Shadow were; I want the rest to be a surprise.  :)  The rest of the tracklisting looks great too, and those song lengths look very generous indeed.  Man, now I really can't wait to hear the album!

I've heard about SuperNOVA, of course, and yeah, I'm pretty hyped about it.  Assuming my local arcade gets it in, I think this just might be the ticket to get me back into DDR.   The new licensed stuff looks promising; dancing to "What A Wonderful World" and "A Love Like This" should be particularly awesome experiences. :)   And I'm definitely curious to hear how the new remix of Yamaoka's iFUTURELIST turned out.

SonicPanda Feb 2, 2006

Nothing for me this month, and likely next month, as my cat contracted blockage that almost burst his bladder and the final damages for bringing him back to health were over $500. He's much better now, though looking a little silly walking around with a certain region of his person completed shaved and pinkish.

Eventually, however, I'd like to get Were-Rabbit and Peach...you know for that DS I'll probably buy next year. Sigh.

SquareTex Feb 2, 2006

Beyond the Dirge of Cerberus OST, not an awful lot.
Gotta try and have SOME fiscal responsibility as I look for my next job. tongue

Ryu Feb 13, 2006

So far, Chibi-Robo.  I'm shocked that Super Princess Peach is so well loved and plan to give it a go.  A shame that Ultimate Brain Games is MIA, since I was looking forward to (hopefully) good versions of go and chess.

As for DVDs, the Beast Machines collection for sure (since I already have the original Transformers series and movie and the Beast Wars series) and I'm sorta curious how the Ultimate Avengers direct-to-DVD animation will turn out.  I stopped reading comics long before the Ultimate line launched.

Speaking of comic book cartoons, anyone here much of a DC fan?  I never really watched enough Teen Titans or any of The Batman to decide if they are worth buying.  They don't seem to be from the same team behind Batman:TAS, Superman:TAS, or JL(U).  Any good feedback on them?

Zane Feb 13, 2006

The only current release I'm going to pick up is Ibara OST. I've heard it, and it's awesome.

I'm sure I'll cut through some backlog with the rest of my flexible cash.

Jay Feb 14, 2006

Oooh, I just realised Breath of Fire 3 is out for PSP so I'll be picking that up today.

Qui-Gon Joe Feb 14, 2006

After doing some quick research, I'm left wondering why several PSP rpgs are only coming out in English in Europe and not in the states.  Not that it really matters since I don't think there's a single rpg on the system yet that isn't a port (though Legend of Heroes IV doesn't really count since it's the first time we've had an... "English"... release).

Popolocrois (sp?) as well.

Port or no port, a good RPG is a good RPG and having a handheld version is just perfect for me. I'm still holding out hope that we'll get a Suikoden PSP english release.

As for why they aren't making it to US yet, I honestly have no idea.

Qui-Gon Joe Feb 15, 2006

McCall I am so amused by calling RPGs on cliche since you love Suikoden so much... I'm working through the first game in that series now and have been guessing just about every single plot occurance before it happens.  I think the leader of an army handing over power to a (presumably 17 year old) boy just because his eyes had that kind look to them just about took the cake, though.  tongue

Personally that alone can't really detract from an RPG for me too much, since nearly every JRPG uses a lot of cliches in the story.  I would prefer a very well told story that uses a lot of genre staples (see: Skies of Arcadia) over a game that treads new ground only to end up being a total and utter mess (see: Shin Megami Tensei: Nocturne).
