I was hoping I'd be getting more of that stuff, after Ys VI ~ Ark of Napishtim!

Is Ys ~ Origin really all that better than this?!

After Oath in Felghana, I'm not too optimistic!

You're kidding, right? You didn't get the Super Arrange instead of the OST by mistake or something, did you? The OST is two of the greatest discs ever pressed.

Yeah, I got the 2-disc soundtrack; I avoided the Super Arrange Version, since I hear they didn't really remix the tracks all that much.

Before I got Oath in Felghana, one of my friends slipped me one of the tracks; an awexome rock track with an aria in the background; can't remember which track that was, though.

I'd REALLY like to like this soundtrack; especially given the awexome purple-based cover graphic, but right now, it's not really doing anything for me.

Any recommended tracks I should listen to? I have difficulty just flippin' through this thing, sadly.

Just listen to it. You're not hearing anything different than the rest of us. If you don't like it, that's fine; I guess Ys music just isn't for you.

In my opinion, this album is the best interpretation of the Ys III music since Ryo Yomenitsu's arrangement for the PC-Engine.  It's not as power rock as Ryo's version, but it's very good overall.

Have you listened to any other Ys soundtrack?  It may be that you have to play the games to get a better appreciation of the music.  A lot of game music does not grow on me until I've played the game.

Ys Book I and II will be on the Wii Virtual Console this month.

Yeah, Ys VI ~ Ark of Napishtim; sampled it off of RPG Fan before I even got the game, and I was absolutely smitten with what I heard, and the the stuff I heard later in game was definitely what I was looking for: rock & techno.

Ys ~ Oath in Felghana and Ys ~ Origin seem to be different stories from Ark of Napishtim, though...definitely not what I was expecting from either of those.

I believe you're exaggerating. There should be at least 8 or 9 tracks that fit the discription of what you're looking for. If you really can't stomach listening to the whole album, then just play the first 10-20 seconds of a song and if it's not rock or techno, skip it. Pretty straight forward.

Funny...Considering the techno elements are a large reason I clearly prefer the Ys III redbook nowadays and the rock is a large reason I still listen to most of this one frequently. And I thought you liked orchestral stuff. If you're asking where it all is...Um, it's in the soundtrack? Yeah, uh...Try listening closer or something.

Especially since there's far more rock on this one than you can ever hope to find on Napishtim (albeit, Ernst, Mountain Zone and Mighty Obstacle are awesome, they're also pretty much it).

Honestly I'm not a huge fan of Falcom music in general (Except Legacy of the Wizard mmm Falcom Special Box 91), but Ys ~ Oath in Felghana (OST AND Super Arrange) and Zwei!! probably are two of the best soundtracks in existence.

I'm not one of the Falcom guys here, but I loved the Napishtim OST, so I went out and got some other Ys CDs.  I enjoyed the Ys Origins OST, but the Felghana one really didn't do much for me.

Oath in Felghana is by far the best Ys album ever released, imo.  "Sealed Time" alone is worth the purchase of this album.  If fuses rock, electronic, and some really badass violins seamlessly.  If your saying Oath in Felghana has no electronic music and rock then I have NO idea what your listening to then.  The whole album fuses electronic, rock, and orchestrated music all into one.  Other noteable tunes are "Illburns Ruins", "The Boy's Got Wings", "Be Careful", "A Searing Struggle", "Steeling The Will To Fight", "Beat Of Destruction", "Valestein Castle", and well the whole album is great!

Oh, and this album also has one of the most powerful final boss themes ever created..."The Strongest Foe".

Origins was lack luster compared to Felghana.  I'd say the best current Ys albums are Napishtim and Felghana....then Origins.  And I'm not counting the SAVs, if I did Origin's SAV thrumps Felghana's by far.

Maybe you should check out Ys -The Oath in Felghana- Pre Arrange Version it's a lot more synthy since they were the working versions of the final songs....It came with the Limited Edition of Ys The Oath in Felghana PC game, the box set includes Ys Premium Music CD Box in Felghana which virtually has every reincarnation of Ys III music theres been.  But anyways the Pre Arranged Version has a killer song at the end of the disc called "Decendant of Genos" which was never included into the game.  Check it out.

I forgot to mention Bernhardt if you liked Napishtim's OST so much you should check out YS VI THE RETURN a doujin album by Atsushi Fukai. It's very wonderful.  The tracklisting goes as follows
