Hello, all. It's been a while. I frequented this forum a long, long time ago. I wrote a small handful of reviews back in something like the late 90s and early 00s under my actual name, Mike Chenoweth. (Stuff like the Demon Castle Dracula collection at and Gradius Remixes) I was later a poster under the name Ultrace, although I've lost the ability to login to that account.

Anyway, my point is that I've been collecting soundtracks for a long time, about 25 years and due to a number of reasons, not the least of which is money, I've made the painful decision to auction them all off. I plan to start this process tomorrow, on eBay. I have somewhere between 250 and 300 game soundtracks and music CD sets, so these will be done in batches, likely with new ones going up every week. Photographing, testing (some CDs are over 30 years old) and listing these is a lot of work after all.

Though I have plenty of "common" stuff that printed like hotcakes (you know, like Squaresoft soundtracks) and lesser valued things like American domestic CDs, I also have nice rarities I've picked up back when they were more reasonable like Super Metroid Sound in Action, Devil Crush/Alien Crash, the Konami Music Masterpiece Collection, a full set of the Famicom Sound Museum discs (with the SMB3 magazine-only add-on), Akumajo Dracula X, and so on. I figured this group would be interested and I wanted to give a shout out.

Here's a link to all of my current items listed on eBay:

Actually, I go by the name "Ultrace" on eBay. So, if you just search for sellers by that name you'll find me.

Or, if anyone wants to look for specific items, they can do that too. My first week of items just went up. They are the following:

Capcom Trilogy Box - The special boxed set of Capcom Game Music vols. 1, 2 and 3 with the yashichi/Sidearms fighter box.

Dead Rising Original Soundtrack

Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time Original Soundtrack  (domestic release)

Gradius V Soundtracks

Diablo 15th Anniversary Soundtrack 1996-2011

Dracula: Circle of the Moon/Concerto of the Midnight Sun Soundtracks

Akumajo Dracula Best Collection  (the NES/Famicom Castlevania 1, 2 and 3 set)

Z.O.E. Zone of the Enders Soundtrack

All Sounds of Final Fantasy 1 & 2

Dragon Force Complete Album

Ecco: Songs of Time

A couple of Dance Dance Revolution music sampler discs.

More to come next week. Listing these is a lot of work!

Some tips from selling a couple hundred albums myself:

- Around 25% of my purchasers were international.  It’s worth adding int’l shipping (but NOT through the “eBay Global Shipping” program).  Just USPS First Class International.  If you print your shipping labels on eBay, it’s literally no extra work as compared to domestic shipping.

- You mentioned the default shipping is Priority Mail but buyers can opt for Media Mail.  I’d recommend offering First Class Parcel shipping only.  The reason being it’s much cheaper than Priority (like $3.50 for a jewel case in a bubble mailer) and so buyers will pay more if shipping is cheaper.  Offering one option also keeps buyers from corresponding with you about shipping options, which is annoying and time consuming if you have hundreds of items.

- You can get bubble mailers super cheap on Amazon, like 25 cents each.

- vgmdb.com is another good place to advertise your sales.  They have more users than here (not that that’s saying much smile )

If you bump this thread every time you add albums, I’ll check out the new stuff every time!

To chime in, I am interested in Gradius V (and perhaps more from your other batches). As is, though, I only want Gradius V and not badly enough to pay +50% shipping.

I previously purchased ~15 CDs from another poster here over eBay, and they saved us both money by bundling everything into one shipment. If you've got more to list, I will certainly take a look. (I'm in Seattle.)

Sorry everyone for the delayed responses! I'm not used to coming back to this forum...

Thanks JB for posting my eBay link. That's me!

Do any of these albums have OBI strips?

Most of them do as a matter of fact. Some of the ones I bought in the very beginning I may have tossed them in foolishness. As I was taking pictures and preparing these, I did not keep a running track of which ones had the spinecards or not (and I didn't retrieve the spinecards to be taken in the photos either.) But I would say almost all of them do unless otherwise stated. I can check any individual CDs if you're interested!

I have a lot more to list (between 250 and 300 CDs), but am only doing them in batches of about 15 per week. The next ones will go up on Saturday. I have some interested buyers who are on a budget and I am metering it out for the sake of their wallets. I can totally combine shipping and will mention that starting in the next batches to go out. It may make payments a little weird, but if you let me know when you make a purchase that you specifically are keeping an eye out for other items, I could delay taking payment for a time in order to give you the chance to bundle up -- but given how long these are going to go up, I wouldn't be able to wait until the end or anything.

Thanks for the suggestions! I will look into them. I also considered VGMDB but didn't see a way to actually make posts in their marketplace, I thought all you could do was to put a CD directly up for sale on their marketplace, which would circumvent eBay. I'll take another look.

Rrolack Jun 13, 2019

For vgmdb, the suggestion is to make a post in the Miscellaneous forum with a link to your eBay account.  Basically, it’s a way to advertise the sale to potential buyers, without the hassle of using the Marketplace.

So, even if you are listing in batches, is there a master list of what you're selling?  Would be easier to plan out if you intend to buy multiple soundtracks that way.  Also, very curious what else is for sale...

On a tangent, I'm not dead.

I haven't put together a master list yet. Typing it up is a daunting effort. But I'll probably go ahead and get that started. It will likely come in handy before all this is done.

That's what I'm talkin' about! I'm also curious to see what'll be offered down the line, although having an "episodic" release of new auctions every week is also pretty sweet.

The_Paladin Jun 15, 2019

Ah you've got some albums I've been looking for indeed.  Only thing I would add is like vert asked it would probably help to include in the listing whether it has an obi or not.

Fair enough. Collectors are, in fact, the ones most likely to provide the best prices for me, so I will make sure that going forward (starting with next week) to mention that. Thanks again.

Stephen Jun 16, 2019 (edited Jun 16, 2019)

I am sorry to hear that you have to sell everything.  I totally get the "need money" angle, though.

I am only potentially interested in two of the albums of your entire list, but those albums have not been put to auction, so I'll have to wait for them to go up.

VGMdb.net's marketplace system is only useful if you tagged albums into your collection, simply by having an account, going to the album, and clicking a link to add it to your collection.  Once it's in your collection, you can go to that page and select those to put on sale.    However, it's not nearly as straightforward as writing a post.

LuxKiller65 Jun 19, 2019

i'd bid but local shipping is already expensive (9$ for a cd?) and then ill have to ask my friend to ship overseas, that's not viable unless it's something ive been dreaming of for years

Ultrace-7 Jun 22, 2019

New items have been listed. Original post is edited to list the new items. This week contains a number of nice rarities, topped with Devil Crash / Alien Crush, possibly my hardest to get item.

Ultrace-7 Jun 30, 2019

New items have been listed. The original post has been updated with the new items. Last week's stuff is still up for grabs.

Rrolack Jul 3, 2019

Thanks for the Devil’s Crush!  That’s a hard album to find especially with a nice looking obi.

Ultrace-7 Jul 4, 2019

Thanks! That was one of the prides of my collection there.

Thanks to eBay showering me with a bunch of very short-term free listings, I have relisted all of the items that didn't previously sell. Some have lower prices, some have new pictures showing the inclusion of obis or other materials. I'll also be putting up a slightly larger listing of new stuff on Sunday.
