This may seem like a silly question - I've seen the answer posted before - but Mitsuda was originally meant to score this right? He was busy with something else (Xenosaga?) so he suggested Sakimoto to Capcom. Can anyone give me the lowdown or point me in the direction where I can get the lowdown.

I've forgotten that this was originally revealed by an SSF (now SEMO) interview. Mitsuda wasn't directly involved, but I tend to associate some tracks' ornament notes in oboe with Mitsuda for whatever reasons... I know it's still coincidental.
