Thanks for this!

I'm going to listen to it in my car on the way to work, so I'm wondering: why does it sound worse on car audio?

FuryofFrog Aug 8, 2010

I really don't have a good set of speakers to compare any of this on so I'm just using my laptop. I hear immediate differences. More punchy bass, crisper cymbals and highs that soar. I'm actually really surprised. For a second there I thought this was a new kind of spamming made directly for music sites like theses haha.

Too awesome thanks so much sir. So tell me for completeness sake are you going to do the same to the Fusion side??? (hahah joking)

My day is infinitely better now.

Yeah, me too. Now that it's getting your recommendation, I'll be downloading this as soon as I get back into town.

I think the very reason this topic has gone without any comments for a whole week is because pretty much everyone was assuming the same thing.

We were all waiting for someone else to be the first one wink

I'll dl this when I get home from work and chime in with my 2 yen.

The remaster was amazingly done, just compare the original CD FLAC and this one FLAC and you will see how awesome this is.

I would like to know if you have more projects like this one lakerhunter2.

Just one more thing, to be able to listen the difference of the original x remastered you need a very good headphones.

Datschge Aug 21, 2010

Nice work lakerhunter2. Are you considering remastering the other Prime games? Those have no official soundtracks so your job would be polishing up the extracted (unfortunately already lossy) streamed in-game music.

lakerhunter2 Aug 21, 2010 (edited Aug 23, 2010)

Hey guys, sorry I havn't been on in ages. I just found out about this site. I just purchased a pair of beautiful sennheiser HD 800 headphones. I didn't know that this remaster sucked so bad lol, so I will be making adjustments to the album as I get more informed by other people.

Yes, I am planning on making remasters for all the soundtracks and I will probably have to record from the game itself and work my magic into it, it will take a while though lol.

...I'm sorry did you just imply you're using using 320mp3s as a base?

Because uh, FAIL if so.

Metroid Aug 22, 2010

If this remaster sounds bad just imagine the good remaster. lol

Patiently waiting for the new version and the others albums. Keep up the good work.

No, just the ones I can't get the FLACs for lol. like Metroid Prime 2 Echos and Corruption. I have the Fusion CD. But for morrowind's soundtrack, all there was was mp3s, so I had to make the best lol.

Metroid Aug 22, 2010

All right. I downloaded the final remaster to compare with the old remaster. Well technically the final or new remaster is much better, now concerning listening, clarity and sounding the old or first remaster is much much better. I deleted the final remaster and stayed with the old remaster because for sound my ears is much trustworthy than my eyes, like I said before, is all about your headphones.

Check your email.

You have my thanks, if you do to Metroid Prime 2 or Metroid Fusion what you did to the first Metroid Prime remaster.

Alright. I check my e-mail. (Thanks) I listened to your comment and I agreed that the old one sounded better. So, according to listening results and blind tests, music that has the waveforms dynamically compressed sound much better to the ear. I will take into account of what you have said and I will dynamically compress the music and add a separate link in the thread. For people who enjoy the larger dynamics, you can still download the final remaster.

lakerhunter2 Aug 22, 2010 (edited Aug 23, 2010)

Okay, I borrowed a dynamic compressor from a friend and, instead of turning up the volume, it made everything clearer and just plain better, so i am going to replace the old remasters, yet again, with the new ones. Tell me what you think. Be expecting the post tomorrow!

EDIT: Just uploaded my finished work! Links have been updated, update your libraries as soon as possible!!!!

Well, the way it was originally rendered was to be "inside your head", but with the latest remaster, after playing it through speakers, the new "in your head" effect that I did projects much farther than the original, so you should fall in love with it playing in your car lol.

Yes actually, I have fusion almost half way done now. I will post a separate thread when it is finished.

lol, sorry for almost spamming my own thread, but remastering this album is one of the hardest because of the range of sounds ect. but I promise, my rest won't be this bad lol.

Metroid Aug 23, 2010

Yes, this is far better than all the previous remasters. The first has more clarity. The second has more quality. The third has both quality and clarity. I think there is nothing else to improve here. A great work. I look forward for the Super Metroid remaster. The Super Metroid remaster will be a blast ehhe because the Original Soundtrack was badly done. Thanks so much Kris for this and upcoming projects.

Amazingu Aug 24, 2010

So, is there only a FLAC version of the third Remaster available?
Or does that one link at the top contain Mp3s as well?

Just FLAC, everybody was downloading the FLACs. I can put up the mp3 if you want me to, but it will be a while

All of this was rendered and recorded in 24-bit 196khz sample rate hi fidelity quality with all analog equipment. All analog bliss!

I'm curious: can you (or anyone else) explain to me how "all analog bliss" features a bitrate and sample rate? Would it be more accurate to say that it was converted from digital to analog at the above rate (which is certainly a pretty nice DAC)?

Well, lol, it was more like in other words, analog is about 24-bit 196khz, but yah, it was analog to hi-fidelity digital, then downsampled lol, I fixed the post. It makes more sense now.

Does anybody have any ideas on how to advertise this thread so more people would download this album?
