They don't even have the Rockman 7 OST samples up yet and that's out next week by this time. Not sure if they throw up samples for non-arranged albums but I keep checking the site daily.

Tower has samples up:
Mega Man 7:

Mega Man 8:

Oh, you got be kidding me, they couldn't take the SE out of MM7's opening? You can hear the lightning...

And now I will be slapping the titles into babelfish for fun.

T_T Now I'm mad that the Rockman 8 album does not have the Saturn exclusive music. T_T

Seriously, I SO wanted the Cut Man Mix on a disc...

Edit:

Actually, I'm kind of hoping they withheld that part of the tracklist from the puplic and when it shows up, bam! they'll be there but I doubt it.

After the BONUS sound effects in the recorded tracks, I'm surprised yo have any hope left. I feel kind of stupid for getting my hopes up in the first place. I knew isolating sound would be too much trouble to bother. tongue

I'm trying not to gripe over it too much - to spare the other people on this board a "anti-Capcom" rant but, yeah... while I still want the soundtracks (pre-ordered them) some of the wind has definately been taken out of my sails.

Still, I got the Rockman 1~6 box the other day (finally broke down and got one) and for the most part it is collection perfection... the things we're seeing on the Rockman 7 soundtrack started to cropped up on the Rockman X1-6 box. The world and I will survive but it does put a dent in the overall feeling of quality that is quite high otherwise.

You can't help but feel irked how a SPC/gamerip can be devoid of SE and an official disc can't.

FINALLY GOT IT TO WORK!

Use Internet Explorer.

A minute long sample of the MM3 intro theme. Sounds pretty good, if not a tad weak on the main melody. In my opinion, it's just too short a sample to judge the entire album's style or scope. But, this is already fairly promising.

I give this sample a B.

XISMZERO Nov 21, 2007

Was just about to post this. I'm satisfied and so might Zane; it's pure rock and synth as far as this track goes. Just hoping for some surprises in there...

About the link, Firefox never works with most samples, citing errors. Gotta use IE.

GoldfishX Nov 21, 2007 (edited Nov 21, 2007)

That'll do nicely. I wish they'd stayed closer to the original tempo (MM3 Title sounds best played fast) and the synth feels unnecessary, aside from the very end of the sample (and even then to an extent, considering you have two guitars in there...that better be build-up to a kickass solo). But that's some quality hair metal there, otherwise, even if I still prefer the original. I'm 75% sure I'm buying.

American Nightmare Nov 21, 2007

Glad I preordered this baby, especially after hearing the sample track.  This will undoubtedly be my favorite VGM release of 2007.

The sample sounds solid enough, so I'm not too disappointed. I also hope that there are some surprises on the album somewhere. I'm also not as excited as I was before because...

Eirikr wrote:

The guitars sound sloppy and not as tight as they should be (check from 0:04 to 0:07... that sounds messy and off-time to me). This reminds me a lot of Guilty Gear XX OST, which I guess it should, considering who is arranging the Rockman album. I never got too excited over GGXX's loose guitar playing (compare the way the melodies are played to something like the Konami Battle albums), so hearing this sample gave me a little bit of a flashback to a soundtrack that I'm not too crazy about. But, then again:

I'm still gonna order it and will crank it up once it gets here. This is only one minute of the whole album. And, who knows. Maybe I'll be able to say that...

Man, posting is a lot easier when you just quote other people. tongue

My first gut reaction was to post: Is this going to be Rockman Battle? But I held back.

Not comparing this album to other more established ones is going to do it a world of good.

But yeah...if it is able to succeed on its own, favorite VGM release of 2007 hands down.

True. It's gonna be hard, especially given my expectations for the album, the sound similarities to Guilty Gear XX and my preferences for other rock VGM albums, but I'm still going to try to give it a shot based on its own merits.

Ashley Winchester Nov 21, 2007

I like what I hear I just wish they had used another song for the sample... I mean Mega Man III's opening is great but I've heard it remixed with guitars so many times it isn't funny.

GoldfishX Nov 21, 2007 (edited Nov 21, 2007)

I kind of hear the GGXX semblance (the backing riffs are practically the same from the GGXX character select theme...doesn't quite match the delicious harmony in the original). Not exactly KK Downing and Glenn Tipton at the helm (in fact, I'm sure they're just using one guitar player and overdubs, like how they did in GGXX), but the only lead guitar part that bugs me is that one riff from :11-:16 and again after that, which doesn't do much for the main theme and feels like a random space filler. I think the sounds are layered much better than XX , which I appreciate and I haven't heard anything that suggests the mangling that a couple familiar themes got (see: Bloodstained Lineage), the slower tempo aside. Again, I have to hear more.

But then, I've always preferred X's renditions of the themes overall. Heavy Rock Tracks would be perfect if it had the drums from the sample. ;p

I think it's pretty sad they had a full set of samples for both 7 & 8 at tower records and the official site got a meager three samples. Of course, listening to the crap that goes on in some of the RM7 samples is enough to tick one off - ok, ok, I'm done complaining.

Amazingu Nov 22, 2007

Sounds pretty much like what I wanted it to sound.

Definitely getting this, no matter what.

absuplendous Nov 22, 2007

Listening to these two samples over and over again takes me back to ... wow, a good decade or so ago, when I first found this site and listened to its MP2 samples again and again. smile

I'll be picking up this album for sure.
