American Nightmare Mar 6, 2006 (edited Apr 13, 2006)

Varese Sarabande just announced today that they will be releasing Elmer Bernstein's complete score to the 80's blockbuster GHOSTBUSTERS as part of their next run of CD Club titles.  This pressing is limited to 3000 copies, and they are going to sell out FAST, so if you're interested, don't even hesitate.  Once Varese's CD Club titles sell out, they start going for ridiculous amounts on eBay, so get it now while it's only $19.98!

You can order online here

Kind of wierd to just release the soundtrack this much out of the blue, and this long after the movie came out.

Not at all.

1) This is a Varese CLUB release, which have many such limited edition soundtracks.

2) For whatever reason, Arista (?) rereleased the song soundtrack recently (or will very soon)

3) I'm guesing there was or will be a DVD release around this time, as that often is why older soundtracks/scores are released when they are.

Not to mention the fact that fans have been waiting for such a release for a long time, since only two tracks of Bernstein's score were on the original soundtrack.  I hope that more unreleased classic 80's film scores and soundtracks are resurrected from the vaults as well, such as Back To The Future, Gremlins, The Goonies, Sixteen Candles, Weird Science, Ferris Bueller's Day Off, etc..

Hey, Percepto Records just released the incredibly awesome soundtrack to the ultimate big-top kult klassic 'Killer Klowns From Outer Space' from 1988, so anything's possible.  Keep 'em coming, I say!  smile

Yeah, I love such releases. Some great music never shows up, but in this type of case, better late than never... smile

BTW, anyone actually order it and have it shipped yet? Haven't heard anything about my order since pre-ordering it.

Yeah, posted there last week. It arrived today, just need time to listen to it...

I have to say though, it's about time it was legitimately on CD! wink
