Nice! And rather cheap to boot.
Definitely getting that.

TheGazelMinistry Nov 16, 2007

Great. I've been looking forward to this, though I was expecting the release to be a bit sooner.

And 30 tracks? That's great; I thought he had only composed about 15 for the game.

In other words.. first print gets a limited edition comic book?  Can anyone confirm that horrible translation for us?

Regardless, I can't freakin wait for this CD!  I've been taking my time with the game and loving every minute of it, especially the audio.  Kinda reminds me of Yamaoka's SH1 style with SH3/SH4 style vocal tracks.

Thanks for the news. I'm not interested in the game much, but the music should be cool, it being Yamaoka and all. According to the product page, for the moment this is a Konami Style only release, though I expect VGMworld will be stocking it at least.

@ the_miker, it indeed says a newly written limited edition comic book will be included. The case will be bigger than usual as well, to house the comic book I guess.

Did Mary Elizabeth McGlynn do any vocals for this one?

There are four vocal tracks in the game and they're all her.

Yes, that was the same reaction I had when I first listened to it. It's the best blend of his work. This will definitely be a release I will preorder.

cdJapan ain't gonna be stockin' it?

TheGazelMinistry Nov 19, 2007 (edited Nov 26, 2007)

Well, I guess that not all 30 tracks are new compositions. Most of the videos from the game that I've watched on YouTube have music from previous soundtracks.

Aw, crap. I'm really looking forward to seeing a tracklist now.

TheGazelMinistry Dec 8, 2007 (edited Dec 8, 2007)

I suspect most who are interested have seen this already, but here's a tracklist from the OST.

01 Shot Down In Flames feat.Mary Elizabeth McGlynn
02 Meltdown
03 Evil Appetite
04 Wrong Is Right
05 Not Tomorrow 3
06 Monster Daddy
07 King Of Adiemus
08 Don't Abuse Me
09 Underworld 4
10 Acid Horse
11 O.R.T. feat.Mary Elizabeth McGlynn
12 Insecticide
13 Raw Power
14 A Million Miles
15 Battle Drums
16 The Wicked End
17 Blow Back feat.Mary Elizabeth McGlynn
18 Real Solution
19 The Healer
20 Snowblind
21 Behind the Wall of Sleep
22 Drowning
23 Murder Song "S"
24 Not Tomorrow 4
25 Theme of Sabre Dance
26 Hole In The Sky feat.Mary Elizabeth McGlynn

None of these appear to be tracks from previous OSTs, unless they are simply renamed. I'm definitely looking forward to the Mary Elizabeth-McGlynn songs, and I wonder if Joe Romersa has an appearance on this OST. Though I didn't care much for "Hometown", "Cradle of Forest" is one of my favorite tracks from SH4 (it grew on me).

Some new info.  Looks like the first prints come with a portable music player pouch.  And I didn't even catch this before, but the soundtrack's case will be tall, just like the picture shows.  Maybe similar to a PSP game case?

I thought PSP cases couldn't fit a CD? So it would be more like a DVD case.

Anyways, the release is closing in and I was wondering of people who've played the game about how much new music there was and if it's likely the soundtrack will hold all-new material.

Jay Jan 19, 2008

SH0 was packed full of new music. Not all of it memorable but plenty of new stuff and more than enough to fill a cd I'd say. I'd be very surprised if there were any repeats in this.

Right you are.  Here's a YJA link of the real deal:

New story and art by Masahiro Ito?  Yes please.  I can't wait to get mine from VGM World!

Hmm ... and it seems that there are some rumors abound that the game is being ported to the PS2. Hopefully, they are confirmed in the positive.

I think we're past the rumor stage:

I'm happy, since I always have an audience for Silent Hill games, and the PSP would've made the problematic (and the new model wouldn't help since I'm still without a TV with component inputs).

Amazingu Jan 29, 2008

Yesterday I scoured the entire city of Kyoto (well almost) and I couldn't find this bloody CD ANYWHERE.
Not on the shelves, not in the catalogues and not in the New Releases section.
Does it actually really exist!?
Or is this only available through Konami or something?

Well, that sucks!
Why don't they just give it a proper release!?

*sigh*
oh well, best place my order then.

Play-Asia has it for $35. They typically pull through...

Jay Jan 31, 2008

Yeah, they shipped mine a couple of days ago.

the_miker Jan 31, 2008

Kahori is also stocking this over at VGM World.  I got mine from her yesterday and it came with the MP3 player pouch (which is awesome) and some little promotional flyer thing for the game.  Play-Asia, from what I can tell, does not give you these things.

Yeah, me too. It's perfect size for a classic iPod.

so how does it compare to the last few silent hill albums?

Well, I would give every SH album an A if I were to rank them, Zero included. It's similar but different... argh. It's Silent Hill, and if you dug 1-4, you will dig Zero, hands down. smile Great stuff.

Amen to that.  I've listened to the SH Zero OST about 5-6 times all the way through so far.  I can say without a doubt that it deserves to be right up there on that high pedestal with all the other Silent Hill soundtracks.  The CD has that sense of flow that all the previous OSTs have and the four vocal tracks are scattered around in there nicely.

Basically if you're a Silent Hill and/or Akira Yamaoka fan, buy this right now, you will not regret it.  Can't wait for SH5! smile

I ordered my copy from P-A, and it came with the pouch, too. No flyer, though.
