The intro can be found here. I can't believe I missed this. I knew that Viz brought an anime OVA over, but had no idea there was an american cartoon.

Never knew there was an American one at all (can't look at the link right now to check it out for myself). I got the Japanese one on VHS back in the day though. Even have a few cels from it. I remember enjoying the look but story wasn't exactly stellar.

I remember the American Street Fighter cartoon, but only vaguely. I seem to recall only one scene where Guile backflipped up the side of a cliff.

At least Street Fighter had a passing resemblance to its source material. When I think of the Darkstalkers cartoon, I think of poorly-drawn Morrigan and Demitri, working together, in a spaceship.

. . . . I have to see this show now.

The only thing I can remember about the cartoon is the opening theme that goes "we are the DarkStalkers!"

The funny thing is that I always thought Darkstalkers just wasn't that popular over here in North America (or Japan for that matter). It'd at least explain why the majority of appearances of the characters and music are incidental, like cross-over fighters and cameos and why there've been, like three Darkstalkers games as opposed to a million Street Fighters. So how the hell did we get a cartoon series?

On a tangent, if I were to tell the truth, I've always liked the Darkstalkers games far more than any other fighting franchise.

I've always liked the series because for it's off-beat character design (well before Guilty Gear took that crown) but I hit a wall when I played the third one on the PSP. It's d-pad sucks for those kind of fighters... maybe if I could track it down for the PS1 I'd like it more.

As for my favorite fighting series, I'd have to go with the Street Fighter Alpha series - especially the second one. When I go back to it unlike some other fighters I grew up - *cough* any Mortal Kombat *cough* I'm not left scratching my head wondering why I originally found it entertaining. As for a favorite 3D fighter I'd probably have to go with Soul Blade on the PS1 despite the spawn of satan difficulty present in the edge master mode.

Ya know PS1 is fine and all but if you bought Vampire Anniversary Collection  you would be set. It has all 5 Vampire games included. Only problem is you need a modded Ps2.

That's a lot like Panzer Dragoon, I believe there was a collection for it across the sea as well. Still, I wanted to get/have a Saturn regardless so it doesn't really matter.

Alright, I checked out the Darkstalkers cartoon, or rather, clips of it compiled into a single video.

This looks awful beyond words.

Actually, this could make sense - I mean Pyron is an alien, right?

I don't think he was a planet-hopping techno alien so much as he was a dark, brooding Galactus-style omnipotent being.

Galactus was a total ASS in that Fantastic Four movie some time ago; I think it was called "Rise of the Silver Surfer." Like, I mean, they depicted him as giant space anus, kind of like Unicron from Transformers.

Holy crap, those movies friggin' butchered the source material, but hey, how seriously can you take a superhero franchise, in which the main character/leader's special power is being able to stretch like a rubber band?
