This game is surprisingly really fun. I thought after playing through a good portion of Shining Force [GEN] that these types of SRPGs were not for me, but this game is speedy and has a lot of cool synergy. My current team: Nowi [B - Dragon], Felicia [Gr - Maid], Beruka [G - Assassin], Olivia [R- Dancer]

Team 2: Serra [Gr- Cleric], Niles [Gr- Bow], Sophia [R],  Beruka [G]

Still somehow haven't summoned any 5-star heroes yet.

Anyone else downloaded this game?

Dumb question. I'm assuming given this sentence this game is similar to that Final Fantasy one. Essentially Nintendo's take on the same genre?

Perhaps. In Fire Emblem Heroes you earn orbs and can use these orbs to summon heroes who are ranked from 1-star to 5-stars. The system in place increases your odds of summoning 5-star heroes the longer you haven't summoned one from what I've read. In this game you can also combine duplicate heroes to form a stronger unit or absorb a similar unit to inherit their skills. When a hero reaches level 20 it can unlock its potential to become a star higher, which reverts it back to level 1.

Summoned a 5-star hero: Roy!

As much as I hate to admit it, I've been playing this game almost every day since it was released.
I think the main games are vastly superior, but there's still something oddly addicting about this watered-down version, perhaps because, as vert said, it's much more speedy.

My current team is:
Camilla [G - Flying], Ephraim [B - Infantry], Takumi [G - Archer], Julia [G- Sorcerer]

Doing this off the top of my head; I may be mistaking Ephraim for Abel.

These are all 5-star characters, and I have a few more (without spending a single dime, I might add).

Glad you all are enjoying it. I tried it and I hated it (except for the excellent music!). I don't understand the appeal at all, and that's ok.

I don't understand the appeal either, and yet here I am hmm

I just summoned another 5-star hero. I won't spoil it, but the new heroes are quite comical.

Yep, all I wanted was my Spring Camilla, and it only took me a handful of tries!

I'm surprised they were that generous with orbs in the first place.
At any given moment, I usually have several dozens of them, so unless you're a REAL collectionist, there's no real reason to pay money.

I got interested from this topic and downloaded it and played some.  I've essentially done 3 20 orb summoning cycles including the initial group.  I've gotten one 5 star, Spring Exalt Lucina, though I guess a number of 4 star versions of 5 star characters.  I've built a few teams to try and build everyone up so I have:

1- Spring Exalt Lucina, Frederick, Rebecca, and Ogma
2- Corrin (F), Catria, Nino, and Sharena
3- Chrom, Nowi, Robin (M), and Lissa

I haven't gotten anyone up to even 20 yet so guess that's the downside... also my second use of 20 orbs gave me nothing but weak 3 stars.  It seems odd that my only choice for flyers is Catria and I haven't gotten a single armored unit.

The big clickable size design for mobile worked out better for touch screen tapping than Nintendo's own DS games; i.e., Advance Wars: Days of Ruin. In that latter game, I would never use my finger or stylus to move a unit, for that felt unsmooth and required excessive stylus precision. So it looks to be a trade-off: Having a larger unit size looks better, but calls for the map to be smaller in order to be contained within one screen's length.

Yeah, I don't think anyone uses the touch screen to move units in the DS/3DS games.

I don't like the design of the sprites AT ALL though.
I'll take larger maps with smaller/more units any time.

Speaking of which, Echoes launches in Japan today! Yay!
