I opened my Folks Soul OST today, and was surprised that find that maybe one of those 'Mythical Marriages' of two worlds of music might have finally taken place...

It's the closest to an even 50/50 split of film-score cinematic music and vgm that I've heard in a game OST so far.  It leans *slightly* more towards the film score side overall though, so maybe it's more like a 60/40 split.

The shocker is that it still retains that elusive/hard-to-define "vgm feel" even with an obvious film score atmosphere.  Have we finally witnessed a SUCCESSFUL blending of both worlds??

Others have tried (and failed) to merge the two, but Folks Soul seems to pull it off...
Did anyone else draw the same conclusions when listening to this?

Well, it was a combined effort of Kenji Kawai (primarily an anime composer) and Super Sweep, so that doesn't sound too farfetched.

This one sounds like it'll be worth a listen at least, but I have wonder if the "film score" part is worth getting around in favor of the "vgm parts".
