Yup, Microsoft is upping the price on the "Legendary" edition, up 30% from $99 to $129! I say DAMNnabit, what's up with that?? Is Microsoft really losing so much money that they need to do this, or could it be that Microsoft has decided to milk the people for what they can...grrrr...

A bit excessive in my opinion...

Considering it's Microsoft, I'm not surprised... they know fanboys will still shell out for it (I'm not saying being a fanboy is a bad thing... don't read too far into that statement - beep! boop! hummm...!!! anti-flame shield activated!)

Still, I myself glad I didn't shell out the $10 extra bucks for the FFXII Collector's addition... like DVD's I usually only really care about the main event.

Well, it is capitalism after all, guys.

Anyone who pays $129.99 for Halo 3 needs a lobotomy.

Me, I'm looking forward to spending $12.99 on the OST.

Actually, I heard they're actually making a profit on the 360 hardware at the moment. That could change soon enough though.

And wow...I thought Working Designs was nuts. Nevermind the price mark-up...The original price still tops the $90 Limited Growlanser Generations package. Of course, we all know what happened to WD...

I took the liberty of adjusting the semantic error in your post.

Oooh! Contraversy!

Totally agree though. Hype over substance in my opinion.

Qui-Gon Joe Mar 17, 2007

I dunno... Halo isn't BAD.  It's actually a pretty solid FPS.  It's just that it's nothing special outside of being a single franchise that adopters of the first xbox could latch onto.  As far as I've played, the only thing that the original Perfect Dark doesn't do better is frame rate, and that being the case I'd prefer to just play Timesplitters these days.

Amazingu Mar 17, 2007

Exactly.
Apart from the obvious technical issues, Halo is a giant leap backwards from 'ancient' titles like Perfect Dark or Goldeneye. And heck, I don't even think Halo looks that good either.

Solid, maybe, but hugely overhyped and, like Jay said, lacking substance.

That said, I absolutely loved the music in Halo 2, and it was good enough to make me want to get the soundtrack to the next game too, especially if it's only $12.99

There'll be a collector's edition of the soundtrack with a making-of documentary cd and in a limited edition packaging of a real, live Carrier Flood for $112.99.

I never got close to the end, hell to the halfway point, of the first Halo.  I don't like the games at all.  I have enjoyed the 360 Call of Dutys though; outside of Metroid Prime, those are the only FPSs I've played to the end.

I was visiting a good friend that works at a local EB last night, and some dude came in and asked about preordering Halo 3. He said he wanted the "really good limited edition one that was a lot of money". I was standing at the counter at the time and I said, "You mean the one that's $130 and comes in a big bicycle helmet?" In all seriousness he goes, "Yeah. That one."

He them forked over $25 for the deposit, told me and my buddy that he "still" plays Halo 2 on XBox Live "like, every single day" and then made a comment about how Halo was the "best series ever" and then walked out.

I was going to make a comment about preordering a brain, but I decided to bite my tongue in case word got back and my friend got in trouble for it.

On an unrelated matter, Zane, my condolensces to your friend.  At the least, I hope within the last year Gamestop corporate has stopped being retarded and has tried to make working for them somewhat tolerable.
