My limited playtime with these titles dictated my experiences with their respective soundtracks to be equally short. I did find them at HMV for sale at a reasonable price, but didn't pick them up.

So how are they? Are they worth the purchase? What kind of music should one expect?

God of War II is exactly like God of War 1: Bombastic Faux Orchestral, although the synth sounds somewhat better than the original (maybe they even used some real instruments this time round). I didn't find it very interesting.

Kameo is also an Orchestral affair, except completely live. If you like movie music, in the vein of Lord of the Rings and its ilk, you'll probably like it. I definitely did.

The music in God of War II works perfectly fine in the game but I found it overwhelming on disc. It all sounds the same and it's not very distinguished. Bombastic Faux Orchestral is a perfect way of describing it.

Haven't heard Kameo (or played it).

I adore the Kameo soundtrack, though I'm sometimes disappointed in some of the choices for what made the CD and what didn't.  However, Rare kindly put them up for download at their site!  I'd recommend giving them a listen, as they'll give you a pretty good idea of what to expect from the retail disc:

Thanks, Qui-Gon. I loved the samples on the site, but if the disc isn't complete, I see no reason to get it right now. Damn, man. Some of those tracks were great, though. How's the actual game?

Is this all the missing Kameo tracks? I for one love the CD, complete or not...

I'm sure I would, too, but we're talking almost an entire disc's worth of missing material. I'm just puzzled why they didn't do this as a two-disc set.

I own the game and the OST to Kameo.  All of the guts of the OST is there on disc and sound excellent, those posted on the site are really no big deal.

The tracklist to the OST:

1) Kameo's Quest 1:36
2) Enter the Shadow Realm 0:17
3) Shadow Realm 1:35
4) Elemental Warriors 1:22
5) Hero's Theme 3:06
6) Serenity 1:30
7) Forest Glade 5:09
8) Crystal Cavern 2:18
9) Enchanted Kingdom 3:08
10) Dragons Approach 0:39
11) Thorn's Lair 3:14
12) Battle Prelude 0:37
13) The Badlands 3:42
14) A Lament for Solon 2:12
15) Into the Light 1:45
16) Darkness Looms 0:58
17) Ortho's Theme 4:15
18) The Snow Tribe 3:21
19) Theena's Sorrow 1:31
20) Taken Hostage 0:27
21) Thorn's Pass 2:46
22) Ice Siege 0:27
23) Ice Mountain Onslaught 3:22
24) Drok's Theme 2:27
25) Thorn's Arrival 0:30
26) Danger in the Sky 3:06
27) Legend Unfolds 2:12

Theres TONS of awesome tunes from Kameo that made the disc...the best songs that is....Buy the damn disc because it's a magical OST and shouldn't be tossed aside like that.  It's well worth it. ^_^

I haven't actually played the game all the way through, so I can't really comment.  Seemed fun, though.  As for what didn't make the disc, the one that makes me angriest is the end credits theme... of all things why would you not put THAT on the CD?  A two-disc set would've been great.  I still recommend the CD release, though.

TerraEpon Jan 4, 2008 (edited Jan 4, 2008)

The obvious reason why it's not a 2CD release is that it's a Western production. Soundtracks almost always get only a single CD initially (musicals aside) no matter how long. Look at LOTR. Hell, look at the FF "composer best selection" or whatever stuff Tokyopop did.

Still, I agree that it's a fantastic CD. Love that bass clarinet...

Mediocre.  I've had the "pleasure" of playing every version (NGC, XB, and 360) and none of them were ever very good, though always pretty.

How is that possible? It was only released commercially for the 360. Did you play an early build or something

Edit: Just looked it up on Wiki. I guess they were developing it for Gamecube as well, but that'd have to mean you'd played it at a gaming event, like E3, or the TGS . . .

Yes, obviously.
