Along the lines of this. It's really chill and makes those long drives at night so goddamn nice. Any other VGM like it?

Man, you know I'm the kind of guy to ask for this kind of stuff!

Look up record labels like:

K7 Records
Neurodisc

well, that's about all the record labels I follow habitually, because they REALLY put out the chill kind of music I like.

Some of my current favorites:

Artist Name ~ Album Title

Boozoo Bajou ~ Grains
Fous de la Mer ~ Stars and Fishes
Kopas ~ Fragment of a Confession

Might not be as house-y as you like, they're probably even MORE chill than what you're looking for, but check 'em on out!

Hmmm... the latest VGM that I've listened to that's mostly pretty chill is the Assassin's Creed 2 soundtrack. It's a great soundtrack for just playing in the background while you cruise.

I couldn't think of shit for awhile, then I remember the latest Tiger Woods game has the chillest menu music (though it's featuring non-vgm artists.) Don't think it has a cd release though...

I liked the Croft Manor theme in TR: Anniversary.

The percussion is pretty subdued, but it has a nice syncopated feel with piano touches that make me imagine a moonlit night.

Oh I GOT ONE. Hitman - Codemane 47 and Hitman, Vol. 2: Silent Assasin Disc 1

edit: Hotel Dusk isn't really driving chill music, but it is good lounge music.

And lol. Looking for some chill music thread is above a music that gives you chills thread.

The tracks in Gran Turismo Original Sound Collection have a tad stronger beat than the track you linked, Idolores, but are still pretty chill.  (Some samples on the album page if you want a quick listen.)

Also check out this chill-out remix by McVaffe at OCR of the superb Panzer Dragoon ending theme:

Is this for the latest PSP game? I can't remember the series ever sounding this good. Thanks for the heads up, I'm really digging this stuff. big_smile

You should check out Ridge Racer 7 Nite Grooves: http://vgmdb.net/album/4401

Auto Assault is also great. Different kind of chill, but very good.

Super King Jul 17, 2010

Definitely check out Ridge racer 4. I remember how in reviews how they ragged on the music for being so chill and mellow for a racer.

Bernhardt Jul 18, 2010 (edited Jul 18, 2010)

Ido, check out albums by Thievery Corporation.

I think you'll find them EXACTLY along the lines of what you're looking for.

Game soundtracks scarcely feature decent jazz and lounge music; a lot of soundtracks have A token jazz or lounge soundtrack, but trying to find a soundtrack that consists solely of that music is like trying to find a needle in a haystack.

I never heard of this release when it came out, but it's a follow up album to Love SQ... Chill SQ.  It has a good cover of Seiken Densetsu 1 tracks, and some weird interpretations on tracks from FFIV, V, VI and Makaitoushi SaGa (FF Legend 1).  The other two tracks are from Front Mission and Live A Live.
