I don't know if this belongs in "Marketplace" or here, but in any case I found Musashi: Samurai Legend for the PS2 for $10.99 at Gamerquest.  Mind you, this is brand new, sealed.

As we all know, Hamauzu and Nakano composed most of the soundtrack and it blends perfectly with the game.  Absolutely one of my favourite titles on the PS2.  If anyone's been teetering on whether or not to buy it, now's your chance.  S&H is only $4.00 if you do the minimum USPS Media Mail, but UPS shipping isn't much more.

I wouldn't pimp out this game as much if I didn't think it deserved it.  Play it on your 20 or 60 gig PS3 as it doesn't work on the 80 (*sniff*), or, I guess your PS2.

Oh, and they also have the 3 Suikodens for the PS2 in a package for $120.00.  I might have to jump on that.

I played through the game for the music (which was good). The game was not. I suppose I've played worse, but the main character was so sluggish that the battles felt like they were being fought in taffy.

That, and the story and characters were wretched. Then again, it is a Musashi game. wink

I'd take Brave Fencer over Samurai Legend anyday... it's amazing how colorful the first game was when it came to the characterization of the characters compared to the soulless husks found in the sequel. The members of Mandrake Enterprises were some of the worst villians in recent memory I can recall. Didn't think much of the score either but I'm a Sekito fan.

My bad, "Mandrake" the title of an album I use to own; it was also in the title of a song from it as well and when you haven't played the game in a few years...

Samurai Legend Musashi was decent, but I played it mostly for the soundtrack.

The town was kind of cool, but still underdeveloped; more or less like walking around a (heavenly) shopping mall.

Captives weren't put too far off the beaten path; they should've hid them better; what it ultimately boiled down to was that you were able to visit a new shop in town once you reached a certain point within the level.

Battle system, I don't remember too many problems with; it's pretty much Kingdom Hearts's battle system, but better; Samurai Legend Musashi offered combo attacks, and you could learn secret attacks from your enemies.

Item menus: items were little more than blocks of text on a menu; the whole item menu just felt lifeless, much along the lines of Kingdom Hearts; it's not too different in this aspect with other RPGs, but I remember the item menus from these two games in particular to just...lifeless; can't really explain what I mean by that, though.

Characters, I'll agree, could've used more characterization, but, at least, I thought Gandrake, Rothschild, and Shiraz looked and sounded cool.

...

Ultimately though, they took a lot from FFVII; Gandrake Enterprises = ShinRa Inc., Nebulium = Mako, Gandrake = Sephiroth.

Why, Musashi even got to ride a motorcycle at one point, but it was just a tunnel; not the twisting highway you had in FFVII.

The music was amazing, but the above is incredibly true.  I gave this game a chance, but the battle system was so freaking painful, I just couldn't go on.

This was made by the same team as the original Musashi, but they seem to have taken all the fun parts out for some reason.  =\
