Given Nintendo's track record on CD releases and the game's presumably small number of tracks, I wouldn't be surprised if they passed on this one.  I could see it as a perfect preorder bonus or promotional disc, though.

The good news is that the game will apparently boast an unlockable sound test of sorts -- so a game rip/recording should be easy enough to get in.

On that note, my own recording of the official site's featured theme, which I also posted on the Gaming thread.

Yes, Nintendo have confirmed they will be releasing the eight disc Punch Out!! Anniversary Box imminently. Complete with a special vocal arrangement featuring Koji Kondo on piano!

Of course, I kid. I don't think there's any chance unless Nintendo decides it should apply Sega's corporate tactics exclusively to soundtracks. A shame too.

thanks, i will keep my eyes open for this one.

and thanks for the track, its been on non-stop repeat lately.

I agree.  Nintendo's been skimping out too much on its soundtrack releases lately.  Twilight Princess and Corruption are practically DEMANDING for a OST treatment, and even though GALAXY and the upcoming ANIMAL CROSSING seem to be steps in the right direction, they still can do more.

You know, maybe I should take that back.  If these new Gamesradar videos are any indication, it would seem they've arranged the main Match BGM theme for a number of opponents.  At least, this appears to be the case for the Title Defense mode, which effectively allows you to fight more difficult versions of the thirteen total. (Whether they'll all have their own arrangements or not remains to be seen.)

These clips are brief, but it's enough to marvel at the ethnic sounds they've imbued into the main theme.  From the Caribbean-tribal remix of King Hippo, the koto sounds of Piston Hond(o), the air of French acoustics for Glass Joe, and the exotic sitars of Great Tiger, it looks like they're stepping up the stereotypical portrayal of these characters to an all new level -- through music!

So as this post portends, I picked the game up today.  Having an absolute blast with it, but what's particularly spiffy is that unlockable sound test.  A few of the opening sets are already available, including the Minor Circuit Theme, the Major Circuit Theme, and the World Circuit Theme.  It's to my understanding that beating the Exhibition Mode for each of the boxers unlocks their ethnic-specific arrangement.  Easier said than done, perhaps, but one hell of an incentive for the diehard Punch-Out!! music fan.

In the meantime, I've done up a recording of the Minor and Major Circuit Theme sets.  The Major Circuit, specifically, is about some of THE MOST ASS KICKING ARRANGEMENTS of the classic themes I've heard yet.  The guitar work is sublime, and I just love the floating synths in the "Get Up!" and "Opponent Down" theme variations.

Also, FYI, the composers responsible for Punch-Out!! Wii are Mike Peacock, Darren Radtke, and Chad York of Next Level Games.  And it definitely looks like they're sending up one hell of a love letter with this score.

Got the World Circuit Theme set up.  This was a tricky beast to edit, since the looping was cut intermittently short for all three parts.

This is another high energy set, but it doesn't quite compare to the pure rockin' awesomeness of the Major Circuit Theme.  In fact, I would've been perfectly content if that particular set played throughout the entire game. :)

Oh, and I've also done up another edit for the Minor and Major Circuits, where I've rejoined their main match BGMs and the "Get Up!" themes together -- you know, for those who like their tracks a little more "complete."  These classic songs really are so much fun to edit for.  ^_~

Wow, thanks, Angela! However, I do wish it was more like the sound test version, which plays the fight music, then the "opponent knockdown" music, and finally the "Little Mac knockdown" music.

I hope I can download a full rip one of these days. There's so much great music in this game (not to mention the funny Doc Louis quotes available in the sound test)!

Yeah, I'm working on finding a way to do another set that plays up the "Match BGM -> Opponent Downed -> Get Up!" format.  Then, I'm planning on keeping the shorter ditties, like the after-match arrangements and the lose and win themes as a separate medley.  The new edits I made are a first step in that direction, but what I've begun to notice with the sound test is that some of the theme variations have an awful habit of cutting themselves abruptly short before the next track begins.  In some cases, they're not quite enough to make a full and proper loop.  I'm not certain if that's how the game actually streams the music off the disc, or if direct extracts of the sound data would be any more 'fuller'.  This results in having to first make capable-sounding loops before doing the medley integrations.

But for now, here are the King Hippo and Soda Popinski's "Match BGM -> Get Up!" themes.  They're some of my favorites.  ^_^

Just wanted to say all of your arrangements of the themes are awesome! Been listening to them for days! Keep it up! Can't wait to see the others! smile

Would I be able to get Bear Hugger's music or Aran Ryan? Maybe the main menu music would be good... I just want more music for this game! big_smile

Seriously, Angie's, like the only source of anything even remotely resembling an OST right now. smile

Heh, and just for kicks, I've put together the NES version of the "Match BGM & Get Up" themes.  It's the classic template that many remixers have forever been utilizing in their arrangements.

Did up a medley suite of all the "Retire" variations in the game.  I was mildly amused when I was viewing Glass Joe's sound data.  Take a look at the tail end of the wave here; see how unique that accordion end flourishes there?  Don't come across a pattern like that too often.  :P
