Hi.  I am just wondering if there is sheet music for any of the more orchestral pieces from the YS series.  I'm thinking specifically YS V Symphony, Ys Origin, and Ys Healing.

Also what about sheet music for Xenosgears, Dragon Quest, and Legend of Mana?

With all the great game concerts going on I want to see if I could convince the Mississauga Symphony Orchestra to put on a game concert.

Please tell me what you think.

David

My line up would be:

Well, to answer your question. Yes and No.

Yes there is sheet music for game music available to the public. But most are for piano, not for orchestra.  There have been some for guitar and I think there was once a FF ukulele score printed.

I believe most music publishing companies (DOREMI, Yamaha Music Media, KMP) sell VGM piano scores.

Most of the VGM performed in Play!,Distant Worlds, etc. have not been published in Book form and not available to the public.
So VGM for an orchestra would have to get permission from the game company first, and then get an arranger, transcriber, and so on and so on.

There were piano books for Xenogears, DQ, and LOM printed a few years back.  You could find these on Ebay maybe.

Well, sometimes the OSTs come with sheet music. The majority of Dragon Quest CDs do, though they are almost never in 'full orchestra' score, sometimes as few as three parts, though it varies.

A number of Konami OSTs have full scores of a couple tracks, such as Gradius IV and Sexy Parodius, though these include synth type instruments.

Grandia OST 1 has the full score to Theme of Grandia.

Finally, DoReMe actually published a full score book for Sakura Wars 2, though again it's the scores of the tracks as in the game synth (which is, however, mostly orchestral), and it's only like 13 or so pieces.
