Has anyone here driven up the Auto Road to the summit of Mt. Washington? I just did it for the first time yesterday and, man, was that an amazing experience. Well, technically I just sat on my way up the Auto Road since I wasn't driving, but still.
The weather was unusually clear and calm at the top of the peak - some 6,200 feet above sea level. When we got to the top we were actually above the cloudline... it was an amazing, totally unreal experience. I can't wait to do it again sometime, maybe later in the fall or next spring. Either way, if you're somewhat near the New England area and are looking for a nice scenic vacation, visiting the White Mountains in New Hampshire and traveling to the summit of Mt. Washington comes highly recommended.
