Curiosity got the best of me, and I emailed them, asking them what a cake typically goes for. Here is the reply I got:
"Our three tier cakes serve 120 to 150 guests (not counting the top
tier, which is traditionally saved for your first anniversary). They range in price from $850.00-$1500, with most of our designs averaging $1175.00-$1250.00
It takes unusual things (like edible gold leaf, frosting lighthouses,
etc.) to increase the price above $1250.00. The majority of our cakes are torted, meaning that each tier is comprised of three layers of cake and two layers of filling, yielding a 6” tall cake tier. This makes our three tier cakes as tall as most bakeries’ four tier cakes. It also guarantees nice big slices of cake!
Four tier cakes serve 175-200 guests, (also not including the top tier) and range from $1050.00-$2000.00, most designs falling between $1350.00 - $1600.00
Five tier cakes serve 245-275 and range from $1350.00-$2750.00,
averaging about $1725.00-$2025.00
Servings can be supplemented with our two or three layer (torted) sheet cakes. A full sheet serves 77 guests and costs $165.00 for a two layer sheet (with filling) or $225.00 for a three layer (torted) sheet (with two layers of filling). Half sheets serve 42 guests and run $90.00 for two layer, or $150.00 for torted.
Pricing includes:
-Two different flavors and fillings
-Delivery and set up within the Twin Cities area
-The use of any of our cake stands, candle screens, etc.
-Custom design consultation
-Samples to try (yum)"
Now what I would like to know, is what was meant by saying that the top tier is saved your anniversary?? Um, there's no way a cake would last a year, is there?
