I'm thinking about buying Microsoft's new XBOX 360 controller, which is for the PC now.  My question is:

Is this thing programmable?  Can I make the buttons mean certain keyboard keys, like other game pads can be programmed?

This is important;  I need to play games that only offer keyboard support, but would be better if those keys were assigned to a gamepad.
