It really doesn't help when people throw in joke bids.

I agree.  It's quite sad when people have nothing better to do than to mess around with a charity auction.  ebay will probably cancel their accounts.

Being a dollar shy of $100,000,000 either these people are rabid Colbert fans, which is very possible, or they are about to lose their account.  I did see that eBay requires a valid credit card on file or an ID verification for bids over $15,000---that's something stringent, huh?

Looks like it's back down to normal bids now.. current bid is $6,200.
Man, that's a lot of joke bids that were cancelled.

Very neat painting though... wish I had more money than brains, my husband would go nuts if I managed to procure that thing. ;D

And a lot of those people actually have quite a bit of positive feedback. That's even sadder.

You got married?  Congrats!

You're silly to buy that outside the charity basis! Maybe I would be less bitter if Colbert would just go back to the Daily Show and save it from what it's become and his show from crap.

Sure, there are some episodes that are filler but the good ones overpower the bad ones and outnumber them. Most of the correspondents on the Daily Show don't have much of a personality nowadays, except for the godly John Hodgeman whose comedy is perfect with the Daily Show's setup. The Report is only for those who can take Colbert's personality in full force, and if you are one of those, but is frustrated by the way the show has become more political(that is the only change I can see from when it started), I can understand then. Though, there is still quite a lot of random nonsense that was in full force at the show's beginning.

Colbert's "personality" is meant to be a parody of O'Reilly and the right-wing talking heads; he's playing a role for our amusement.

As for Daily Show, correspondents come and go, although it is nice to still see Lewis Black on the ever rare occasion.  I agree with you, Zaggart, John Hodgeman is great.

Last time I checked, ebay required a valid credit card to even CREATE AN ACCOUNT.  Did they really change that in the last couple years?

Only for certain free email addresses. If you use an ISP adress, or an obscure one they dunno about, you don't have to give a card.
