Just wondering if fellow STC members are up to anything exciting at  the end of this October!  Those of you who reside outside the States, I figure this doesn't apply to you (or am I mistaken?  smile

cheers,

I have two night classes on Tuesday nights.  After that, I'm taking my ass home and going to bed!!

Zane Oct 25, 2006

I might go to a show in Waltham on Tuesday night, but the big night is Saturday the 28th. My buddy is having a big party and me and a couple others are going as Phoenix Wright characters. One of us is Edgeworth, another Will Powers, and I'm Phoenix Wright. Luckily for me, they never show Phoenix's full outfit, so my navy blazer, white shirt and pink tie will do just dandy. I'm pretty excited for that... lots of booze and Guitar Hero all night. Yeeeeeah!

I'm curious as well...Is Halloween an American-only holiday?

My office is having a huge Halloween bash, which is cool, since we get paid to watch people parade around in costumes for a couple hours instead of working. I think they took pumpkins out of the budget this year though, since we had plenty of them sitting around last year. I get out too late to do trick or treaters this year, but that's normally the case anyway.

Idolores Oct 25, 2006

My friend Marc is totally excited for FFXII, which is coming out on the 31st here in Canada, so I'll probably be dragged along for that.

I can't wait to see the costumes of kids on Halloween! ^______^

Well, my hair isn't that long, but I can spike the shit out of it. I might end up looking like some awful cosplayer, but I'll do my best!

Nope, it certainly is not. It's pretty big here in Ireland. As far as I know it actually started here but don't quote me on that.

Edit: Okay this is from wikipedia so it comes with the usual disclaimers but here's what it says - "Halloween is most popular in Ireland, where it may have originated, also known in Irish Gaelic as "Oíche Shamhna" or "Samhain Night". The Celts celebrated Halloween as Samhain, "End of Summer," a pastoral and agricultural fire festival or feast, when the dead revisited the mortal world, and large communal bonfires would be lit to ward off evil spirits. (See Origin: Celtic observation of Samhain below.) In Ireland they continued to practice their deep-rooted, ancient pagan rites well after the arrival of Christianity in the middle of the sixth century."

I will probably do nothing special on Halloween.  I used to try to watch all of The Simpsons Halloween specials (originally via syndication and later through DVDs), but I don't have time to do that anymore, so I'll probably just get eat and go to bed.  That said, the bar I go to every weekend has been serving Pumpkin Ale since the start of the month, and I've been drinking that, so does that count?

Edit: I stumbled into a Halloween party at the bar last night.  I thought it was just going to a breast cancer fundraiser for one of the waitresses, but it turned out it was also a Halloween party.

Anyone remember Garfield Halloween?  I might dig that up... I have it one VHS somewhere.  It is hilarious!

*shiver*

I haven't seen it since I was little but thinking about the old man to this day still creeps me out. I swear that special traumatized me as a kid. wink

As for Halloween, I haven't done anything special for it in years. It loses a lot of its charm once you've left the trick-or-treat years.

Scary old fart...I can almost remember that speech word-for-word and I haven't seen the special in...Well, I haven't seen it since that post and I'm sure it was awhile before that. That and the when the ghost pirates came into the house.

"Should we believe hi..."
"BELIEVE IT, my friends...They know we're HERE, they know who we ARE!"

Damn, they could almost do a Garfield survival horror game around that concept...

Kenology Oct 25, 2006

Geez!  Angela takin' it back to the archives!

Yessir, Garfield Halloween...  I had no idea it was on DVD - I'm gonna have to snag that!  It's a classic!  And yeah, it scared me too as a child, Wanderer.

Alright, since we're in the moment...

Anyone, remember this one Halloween cartoon?  There was this witch who lived alone in a house.  She's waiting for a wish.  Then these two little kids name Small and Tender wish they could be a wolfman and a ghost.  Their babysitter gets caught up in all of it (I forget his name).  So the witch goes to their house, and in the meantime, people come in her mansion and talk about throwing a halloween party there.  So anyways, she turns Small, Tender, and the babysitter into a real wolfman, ghost, and Frankenstein - and the whole town is after them...

Anyone remember this?

The theme song went like this:  'Halloween!  The witch magic, Halloween!  [echo] Halloween!, Halloween!'

Anyone remember, or do you all just think I'm an idiot right about now?

NO! NOW I REMEMBER THE SPEECH TOO! I have this sudden temptation to hide under my bed. neutral

That'd be Witch's Night Out. One of the local independant affiliates (when there was such a thing as local independant affiliates) would trot that one out every year. Ah, memories.

That's what it's called, huh!?  It's a classic!

Halloween's getting pretty big here in Japan.  It's common to see shops selling Halloween goods, and several costume parties were going on in clubs and bars around Tokyo this past weekend.  I organized and DJ'd for one in my city last night and it was jumpin... had about 100 people come out with at least half in costume.  Good times!

Well, I tried. My hair wasn't as spiky as it could have been, but that's what happens when you have kinda short hair and your hairline is running away from your forehead as if it were the plague.

Here is a very drunk me doing my best PW pose. Not pictured: me yelling "OBJECTION!!!" at people mid-sentence while they were talking. Oh Halloween and Sam Adams Octoberfest; how I love thee.

AHAHAHAH! That's so awesome, dude!!! I totally wanna dress up as Phoenix Wright, now!

Zane's got the fiery eyes of a true defense lawyer.  Sharp. Hungry.  Drunk perhaps, yes, but expertly masked with a look of brazen ambition.

Makes ME swoon.

Always thought it was a dude... hmm  STC gender ambiguity, I guess.

I just notice the name 'dolores' in there...

You never know. He might be a guy. wink

Angela Nov 4, 2006

I can vouch for the fact that Idolores is a dude.  I can't speak of his sexuality, but I'm rather certain he's of the hetero persuasion, as accentuated by the second sentence of this post, and the first sentence of this one

My only guess for his bit of competitiveness over Phoenix Zane here is the "cool" factor.  Surely you guys get that swoonin' feeling for one another if you see someone who's that freaken cool?

Angela, you're quite the grave digger.

Those two sentence don't prove Idolores is a dude conclusively... it could be a chick who just wanted to ask another chick out.  Chicks do that!?  I guess?

I don't wanna believe that Idolores is gay for Zane!

LOL! Hahaha, I don't want to believe it either, man. I think Idolores is just playing around.

Idolores Nov 6, 2006

Zane is right. I was totally just messin' around. I thought it might be funny to see his reactions. I didn't expect to see a sub-thread about my supposed sexual orientation!!

*is still laughing*
