this evening shana and i polished off a total of 58 plates of sushi at Yue-Sun in Wooddale, IL
4 hours later i still feel like i want to swim upstream and spawn...

this amazing feat was accomplished by a light breakfast, then a 2.5 hour workout at the gym. i weighed in at 161.8 lbs beforehand and 166 afterwards.

the way i see it,, at $23.95 per person (all u can eat) im gonna make damn sure i get my money worth...

its really cool too,, the sushi comes out on this big train that goes around the perimeter of the bar and then back into the kitched where they reload...

one word of caution,, heavily-sushi-laden burps really stink... not a good idea for a first date...

That sounds simultaneously awesome and disgusting...

did you throw up at all? I would have...MAN 58 plates for 2 people. GEEZ!

My favorite places for sushi in the Chicago area are Akaihana near Old Orchard (which has a phenomenal white tuna tempura roll) and Tank Sushi in Lincoln Square (which has a fantastic goat cheese tempura salad with green apple slices and great sushi overall).

That's nasty... I bet the people in charge of that restaurant were pretty pissed at you. wink

Naw, the point of all you can eat is that the majority pay more for what the minority eats.

How many pieces of sushi is this?

longhairmike Nov 22, 2006

each plate is 2 regular pieces or 3 pieces of roll

GoldfishX Nov 22, 2006

Oh okay...I was thinking Hibachi-style, which is more "traditional" all you can eat. I was thinking 59 plates X 12 to 15 pieces = ...well, you do the math.

I'm generally good for about 45 pieces or so under normal circumstances. I tend to force myself past 30, since I only do it once or twice a month.

How was the variety? Hibachi is mostly Tunas, mackeral and Salmon, with some rolls (veggy and tuna) mixed in. I've always been tempted to try some of the more exotic types (think River City Ransom).

once in a whole they try to fill you up by sending some pineapple wedges or snap peas around, but i just ignore that stuff and go straight for the high density protein...
