I love T-Day. It's the one holiday that guarantees that I get a four-day weekend. Even on Christmas I may have to go in late for a four or five hour shift.
I took the cousins to see Happy Feet, and then we popped in Click on DVD when we got back. Both films surprised me at how dramatically-charged and full of underlying messages they were.
We're heading off to my parents' place in about an hour. Their stove is on the fritz, so a homemade turkey is a no-go. Instead, they're going with a catering service that's going to do the turkey for us -- something we've never done before. We're still going to help out with making the side dishes; right now I've got a Quiche Lorraine and Alsacienne in my own oven, which will serve as one of the appetizers.
The cousins brought their copy of Highschool Musical with them, so we'll likely end up watching that. Just in case, though, I'm also bringing over Wallace And Gromit: Curse of The Were-Rabbit and Cars. What I really wanted to watch, though -- and this is something I've been meaning to see for the past week -- is Martin Brest's Midnight Run. I managed to grab another DVD release of one of my most favorite films of all-time, which has some new bonus features and a cleaner transfer. Regardless, it wouldn't be the most appropriate film to watch during family time, so I guess DeNiro's going to have to wait for another night.
