There's not enough laughter in these forums, we need MORE!!

poll: So, what are the most funny video game moments of your life?  It can be either on purpose (such as good humor in a game), or not on purpose, with friends (sober or drunk), whatnot...

Obviously one of the most funny moments in my opinion was Sony's E3 presentation last year when they were talking about "traditional Japanese battles" and then "giant crab" and of course the infamous "Riiiidge Racer" smile

I'll fill in more later, but right now I want someone to tell us something funny!

cheers,

-avatar!

edit: on second thought, this probably should be moved to the Open forum, but I figure since one of us has such power, chances are one of us will see to it (or if not, that is fine too tongue

Most of my favorite social gaming moments revolve around Marvel vs Capcom 2. With the right crowd, that game is a blast (and especially in the "proper" arcade settings). My personal favorite is hitting Hayato's level 3 super (something that shouldn't leave training mode) on one of my best friends in a tournament final and actually winning against his best team. That was probably my personal highlight playing the game, because everyone went nuts over me winning with one of the worst characters in the game and that was basically the only tournament I won. Many other good times at tournaments...The larger ones are great because of all of the drama that occurs. I mean, when you get the note that a controller is unplugged (normally meaning your controller ports are using too much power and short circuit for a split second), there isn't simply an unpause and both people keep playing...There's about 15 minutes of people bickering back and forth about "unfair advantages" and whether or not the match should be restarted entirely. Seeing the whole Philly players vs NY players thing play out is always cool, even if Philly never wins. Many good times.

Sadistically, the whole "Hot Coffee" thing amounted to one giant laugh for me, because I've always thought much of the "adult content" in the GTA games is simply to attract attention in a cheap way and the developers could have saved themselves so much headache by simply...I dunno...REMOVING the code from a useless scene that was wisely originally stripped out of the game before someone found it. Poetic justice.

Euram Barrows (Suikoden V) was a riot. Dumb, snot-nosed rich kid and he had about 3-4 scenes that were all gut-busting because of his idiocy. Best one was the one right after you got Roy, where Sialeeds and (I think) Lyon were in disguise.

Whoever hasn't played any Burnout game ever needs to at least witness a session with plenty of crashes going on. It's completely nuts how well detailed each one is and something about the little touches works, like...oh say, watching your car hit a bus and blowing up and then being back on the road 2 seconds later.

"Oh! My Car!" Actually, "Oh! My God!", but I can accept both. Both are still worth a laugh.

And yes...Riiiiidge Racer!

Well, I was laughing out loud with a videogame moment from a few days ago, when playing Ace Attorney: Justice for All and got to the part with a crazy guy at the HOTTI CLINIC who likes to "Play Doctor" with the female nurses & patients...  His animations and his BGM theme were both extremely effective at inducing laughter, not to mention his comments on the females when you'd show various profiles and crime scene photos...

Conker's Bad Fur Day.

"What's with that orchestral musi... oh no, it's not really going to sing, is it... holy crap it is."

I freakin' love that game.

Are you talking about an official tournament?

Funniest game I've played:
1).  Mystical Ninja Starring Goeman
- and -
2).  Paper Mario

Just the other day I fell on the floor laughing to a classic moment (as I always do):

The demise as the distortion of a fallen Koopa kid from Castles 2,4, and 5 in Super Mario World. "Whurrrrrrrreeeeerrrrrrrrrrurrrrrrrrr.... WREAP!"

LOL!

I always got a chuckle from Locke (was it Locke?) faking being sick in FFVI...

Not only that, but the castle demolitions were also always good for a laugh. My favorite is when Mario whitewashes the castle away.

The "hit its weak point for massive damage" thing always gets a laugh out of me. I didn't even realize they snuck it into Final Fantasy V until someone pointed it out to me.

Socially, I used to get a kick out of beating my friends in Street Fighter using Dan. Nothing funnier than using his fireball as a finishing move.

Yeah, sort of...The Hayato one was a local one (maybe 20 people), while the others were events that attracted hundred of players. The situation I mentioned there happened with about 40 people involved and about 5 that just wouldn't let the argument die AFTER the actual players agreed to a restart. I have to see if I can find the video of it online again...someone got the whole thing on tape.

Award for funniest scene in all of gaming has to go to Thousand Arms.  I sure wish I could remember the minute details, but it involved blowhard, gay-personifed character Bandiger in the casino.  He just blew all his cash on the slots, and he mutters to himself out loud, "SHIT!" -- he immediately follows this up with an incredulous, "Gasp, did I just say that?"   I just found it hilarious that the incident was both characteristically spontaneous yet completely self-aware; they're basically saying, can we really say 'shit' in a video game?  And to actually SAY it, fully voiced?

'Course, this was before the word became commonplace in video games.

f--- . . . funniest moments in gaming? Goddamn, why do people ask the hardest questions?

Kaz Hirai being unintentionally awesome at E3. "Riiiiiiiiiidge Racer!" will be in nerd vernacular for a very, very long time.

Genji 2's giant enemy crab that you must flip over and attack it's weak point for massive damage is similarly funny.

Okay, one time when my friend Matt and I were playing Ocarina together, we played the Ocarina for Epona to come (we had left her in Garudo Valley), and we're looking around in first person to see where her hoofsteps were coming from. Spinning the camera around, we finally catch glimpse of her, REALLY up close, scaring the ever-loving shit out of both of us.

Oh! And playing the original GTA! That game had so many hilarious glitches. We blew up a cop car, and it was flaming and smoking, but still coming after us! It was so ridiculous that we nearly died laughing. We called it "Darth Vadermobile" because it made us think of ol' Vader for whatever reason.

Xenogears, Tolone and Seraphitia indirectly referencing Star Trek, and then Seraphitia saying "Gosh, I hope we don't get sued!". Struck me as a hilarious moment!

I should also post a link of this video. It had me laughing so hard for so long . . .

Such a hard question to answer! There are so many awesome moments that I just can't remember at the time.

I always loved the "drop tank" cheat in GTA Vice City.  If you were really lucky, you could even stack them until they rolled off.  Dropping a tank on a car is pretty damn funny.
