Greater than sign?

According to Wiki, it's a "bracket".

According to the ultimate authority, charmap.exe, TerraEpon is correct: "Greater-Than Sign."

Greater than sign?

its an alligator,, and it always wants to eat the bigger number...
It's half a parallelogram. An acute angle. Greater than sign. Never heard the term 'angle bracket' before. But it's on a keyboard (which is primarily used for typing), so now that I think about it, it makes sense for it to not have a mathematical use.
When you want to use that character in HTML without it being used AS HTML (i.e. - you want the character to show up in a text field), you use the code "lt" and "gt", standing for Less Than and Greater Than. (these codes fall in-between an &; field, like how you would do é to make é).
So, in that way, I'd say one ought to refer to it as Less Than and Greater Than.
Zane's wiki article refers to the character outside of computing; so it depends on what your question is asking about Schala. Is it the symbol in general, or the characters we use on the keyboard?

Hmm...I think I'll end up referring to them as brackets, after finally having looked the word up in a dictionary -- "bracket" refers to both < > and [ ], the latter of which I've heard called "square brackets." I'm using brackets in pure "symbolic" sense, to surround and separate certain words in a script that I'm doing.
Thanks everyone for the input! Yeah, even the alligator thing...that made me laugh. ^_~
