Perhaps it's because hardly anybody in the gaming press seems to know anything about the TG16/PCE, but I've seen no mention of the most interesting part of the most recently announced games coming to the virtual console: Battle Lode Runner has never been released in America before.  As far as I know, this is the first virtual console game getting a NA release when the original version of the game was Japan-exclusive.  Granted, the game likely doesn't have much (if any) text to translate, but I hope it could pave the way for future releases.

On a related note, the game has been nigh-impossible for me to find in Japan, and locating a copy took over two and a half years.  Of course they would have to go and announce it for the VC a month afterwards.  x_x

Very interesting.  A shame that I don't care for the TG-16 or Genesis games (unless Konami gives us their Castlevania games for each)... I'm happy for Europe/Australia for getting Punch-Out Friday, the bastards.  I hope NOA stops screwing us and give us that one Monday (perhaps along with Zelda II, Castlevania, and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles for the NES that region 2 has).  Romance of the Three Kingdoms IV only this last release was a freakin' rip-off.

What's Battle Lode Runner play like?  I may get it just to support getting more games not previously released.

Actually, I've been too busy as of late to even try the game, so I can't really say.  From what I understand, it's Lode Runner gameplay crossed with Bomberman style multiplayer.  Sounds like it would make a good party game (assuming the people you play games with are tolerant of 16 bit!).

This is significant.  Maybe Nintendo doesn't know this either and Hudson is pulling a fast one on the big N!
