Great cinema?  Hardly.  Extremely entertaining?  Oh yes.  Both Planet Terror and Death Proof are really hilarious and the whole package (it also includes four fake trailers) is well worth the 191-minute run time.  I agree with the criticism that Taratino goes overboard with the sheer amount of dialog in Death Proof, but I suppose the the lengthy build up does make the action more of a payoff once it finally arrives.

Anyway, Grindhouse is a lot of fun.  Recommended.

I really hope they make the movies in the trailers.  Hilarious!  Machete, Thanksgiving and especially Werewolf Girls of the SS!

They won't, but Machete was my favorite of the lot.  Too perfect.

I just watched Grindhouse. Planet Terror is the type of thing I can watch over and over, but Death Proof was slightly inaccessible due to the annoying conversations. The ending was worth every stupid word I had to bear. Planet Terror had quite the cast; it's been a while since I've seen Michael Biehn. He was in 2 of my favorites - Aliens and Terminator.

I've heard rumors to the effect that Machete is being made as a direct to video movie. I was hoping for Thanksgiving (white meat...dark meat...all will be carved...) but thanks to the poor performance of Grindhouse at the BO, looks like that'll squander any chance of it.
