After finding out I am unable to make a 'killer' trip to Vegas, for a friend's wedding, (due to an unexpected recovery from a hospital stay wherein I could've died...) I saw this and laughed hysterically.  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r5gyWKJgNZo

eh... I really can't stand newer Family Guy (everything past episode 49)... Seth MacFarlane just uses the show to whore out his political views anymore. OK, Seth we get it - you hate President Bush - ENOUGH already. I mean it's pretty sad when every new episode has some reference to Bush, his policies, or how much "better" the Clinton years where in comparison. I'm not a Bush supporter either but you know, when I watch a cartoon I don't want to think about reality.

I won't even go into what else is wrong with the show (character development that destroys previous character development, overused and re-used jokes from the first three seasons and the increase in raunchiness to make up for pathetic episode storylines.) Oh, crap I did - my bad smile

Sorry for the rant... that wasn't aimed at you. Ugh, I wish FOX would cancel it already and quit relying on MacFarlane and his people for half-ass resurrections and sitcom ideas. It's sad when I watch the show to see how bad it is...

...of course this is IMHO but I'm hardly being humble.

wow...I guess at the end of the day...a 'sense' of humor...is just a sense

Family Guy and American Dad are far and away better than the Simpsons, which should've been cancelled a decade ago.  And yet there is a movie on the way... and hopefully that'll be the Reaper that takes out that show.

As for politics in cartoons, I saw the Kodos and Krang bit on Youtube that satired the Iraq War (so it isn't as if Simpsons don't do it) and South Park is far less innocent than any of the aforementioned shows.

Ah, but like Hodgkins, better doesn't necessarily mean good.

To paraphrase a vastly superior (albeit non-animated) comedy.

Well I thought the clip was damn funny and I love Family Guy. Although did anyone see that South Park with the manitees that wrote Family Guy? They got the joke formula spot-on. Still, if it makes me laugh, I don't care what aquatic mammals write it.

I don't get the reference.

That's awesome.  I love the Back To The Future references. lol

Curb Your Enthusiasm isn't cool enough for Youtube or even online transcripts. In an episode, Larry believes there is a benign/non-serious/easily-treatable form of Hodgkin's disease, but is rebuffed when saying so by people who assure him that while there is a form of the disease that's easier to beat, it's not "good." "Better," perhaps, but not "good." Kind of like Family Guy versus Simpsons-of-the-past-ten-years; better, but not necessarily good.

The Simpsons recently dropped a hint at a possible "conspiracy" behind what FOX does as a network. We all know they have the most conservative, republican-loving news out there. In fact, George W Bush's cousin has some financial stake in the network.

But then, why all the crass, politically-incorrect humor, and why all the stabs at Bush? Why does FOX air it?

Well, whenever anything is said or done on television that goes against certain codes (an FCC violation, typically), the hosting network is fined. But where do these fines go? Well, it goes to the FCC and those that put support into this content-controlling organization: which includes, on the political scope, the Republican party. So it's possible that, in some underhanded way, FOX is able to make what would generally be illegal donations to the Republican party by intentionally airing foul content and then "apologizing" with monetary funds. Not that this actually happens, but it's a good conspiracy theory.

Oh, I've never seen that show... not that I never wanted to see it, just that I haven't went out of my way to watch it.

It's a good show, pretty much Seinfeld, on crack.  It's funny, that's the same analogy I've used for Family Guy, in comparison to The Simpsons..

Well, it's well documented that I'm a big fan of The Simpsons, Family Guy, American Dad, and Futurama (can't freaking wait for next year).  That said, I'd like to say something in defense of The Simpsons.  Yes, it should've been replaced by Futurama many years ago, but it wasn't.  And yes, it really sucked for a while.  However, I think the last few seasons have actually been pretty decent.  Do they have mind-blowing rock-your-world episdoes like back in the show's heyday?  No, certainly not.  But they also don't have horrible cringeworthy epidoses anymore.  It's kind of evened out to a "pretty good, not great" level typical of long running, venerable series.

I was shocked by how tempting the movie trailer was when I went to the movies tonight.
