I was so excited when I got a Wii over the holidays! Definitely tons of potential, lots of hype, everyone loves it, and yet TP and Paper Mario are the only games which hold any interest for me. Which makes me believe I should have held off on purchasing a Wii. I think my next console purchase will have to be a 360, which I imagine will get good usage, especially since there are a bunch of original Xbox games for me to play! From now on, any system that comes out I won't purchase until there are 5 good games for it (not that I really have time to play all those, but sometimes it's good to chill, and some games are great for relaxing and blowing things up smile

Yeah, I know RE4 is coming out soon, but a rehash by any other name is still a rehash (unless you never played it in the first place of course)! Nevertheless, my impression is that Wiis get some usage at least, whereas PS3s are expensive paperweights! So, if anyone asked me which systems to get, I could only recommend these 3 for now: DS, PS2, and a PC...

cheers,

I never had a GameCube, so when I get a Wii, a huge number of gaming opportunities will be available to me.  I never did get the opportunity to play some games like Conker on the GC, and then of course all my GC favorites like Smash Brothers and Mario Kart.  Hardware compatibility is definitely something to consider, putting Sony and Nintendo leagues ahead of Microsoft, as usual.

Did they make a conkers for GC? And was this the same one that came out for the Xbox?  I missed playing that game...

Something really lame about the Xbox 360, is the backward compatibility, it's emulation based.  The current US and Japan editions of the PS3 have a true 'emotion' chip for hardware backward compatibility for PS2/PS1 games, however the European version (and rumored future PS3s for US and Japan), will remove this chip and again be based on Software emulation.  This I think, is a mistake....

I completely missed the GC experience, except watching my roomates play the Zelda and Mario games for it (and Starfox), never got into the controllers. I don't quite get the Wii, I would like to expend as little amount of energy when playing video games, if at all possible...haha.  I will say, the minute they come up with a means to play DS games on a tv, by way of a Wii or some other nifty device, I am all over it!

No, Conker was originally for the N64, but was rehashed for the Xbox. If you never played the N64 version, you should definitely get the Xbox version. As for the 360, I also think it's dumb that the backwards compatibility is software based, however I would like to say that pretty much all the Xbox games I'd want to play are currently backwards compatible (with just a few exceptions). So, you could say it's lame, but in the end as long as the games you want to play are available to you, that's what matters in the end. If you missed out on the GC, then definitely you might as well get a Wii now... but truth be told, I would actually recommend a GC over a Wii at the moment because of the Gameboy Player. With the GC and GBP you can play ALL gameboy games on the big screen!! Also, remember that your DS can "only" play GBA games, so if you want to play original Gameboy games, you can't do it on the DS. I agree, it would so rock to be able to play DS games on the TV, but I think this is going to be years from now, if it ever does come out. On the other hand, if Sony was smart (I said IF) they would make the PSP playable on TVs. I would so get one then!!

All they would need is an RCA video out.  Sounds simple enough to me for what amounts to an extra dollar or less in hardware.  They might have trouble cramming it in without changing the form factor though.

Sorry about the Conker game, I thought that there was one for GC, now I'm somewhat disappointed.

What might be more disappointing is that I've heard the Xbox version is censored. (which is why they had to change it to Live & Reloaded from Live & Uncut)  How absurd is it that Xbox, a console that supposedly caters to adults, features a censored version of Conker where the Great and Mighty Poo isn't allowed to say the word 'shit'?  It's sort of a double irony there what with Nintendo's family friendly image as well.

Well poo on Microsoft.  $400 for a console and they can't even have PG-16 language on a game marketed to adults.  Damn the censors.

The game was still rated M, so there really isn't any reason for that.  If you need naughty language, buy a 360 (which you all really should have) and play Gears of War.

If you beat the game, you get the uncensored version, iirc.  I think it's funnier when they bleep out his swearing, though.

I've had the Wii since launch and I have five games for it: Wii Sports, Zelda, Wario, Super Paper Mario, and Big Brain Academy.  I'm not sure exactly what you're looking for, but these games have kept me plenty entertained, though to be honest, the Everybody Votes Channel is my favorite thing to do on the Wii.  I love trying to predict how people will respond and the recent polls have been much more challenging to call then the older ones.

I still haven't purchased a Wii yet, but I have my eye (and hopes) on these:

Zelda: TP
Manhunt 2
RE 4 Remake
Tomb Raider Anniversary
SSB Brawl
Guitar Hero 3 (I played Guitar Hero 2 today on the 360; damned addictive)

I think, if I were to get those games, I would be set for about 25 years...But if I were 12 again - I'd wipe them out in a few months.

I've heard that with one of the new firmwares on the PS3 you can stream data from the psp to the ps3, so maybe that's what you're looking for.  The PS3 will drop in price soon, and if you can pick up one of the earlier PSP's and hack it, then by all means, do!
