Picked up this boxset on a whim, and all the varied raw nature on here is amazingly fantastic.
All the best stuff about this cool little planet we live on.

There's BlueRay and HD-DVD versions available too, so those would turn the already-gorgeous views into Jaw-Droppingly Awesome Extravaganzas sure to impress anyone.
Might as well put your HD setup to good use, showing off the most beautiful scenery on the planet, right?

BBC Video's "Planet Earth" The Complete Collection

"Five years in production, over 2,000 days in the field, using 40 cameramen filming across 200 locations, shot entirely in high definition, this is the ultimate portrait of our planet. A stunning experience that captures rare action, impossible locations and intimate moments with our planet's best-loved, wildest and most elusive creatures. Planet Earth takes you to places you have never seen before."

My little brother got this as a wedding gift (a few weeks ago). We've been watching it regularly after he gets home from work (I'm on vacation!). It's really, REALLY good. My two favorite "sections" so far were:

1) the caves documentary
2) the ants in the tropical rainforest and how fungus kills them.

EVERYONE should check this out.

Yeah, pretty much anything by David Attenborough rocks! I've yet to pick up Planet Earth, but it's on my list! My favorite of his show thus far is "The Life of Mammals" which by the way has an AMAZING soundtrack!  Now, I've read that the HD Planet Earth does not include the bonuses that the regular DVD version of Planet Earth includes. Is this true?

cheers,

ps If you enjoy Planet Earth, you should also check out:

Life of Mammals (superb!)
Life of Birds (wonderful, although not quite as intriguing as Life of Mammals)
The Living Planet (similar to Planet Earth as far as I can tell, but not quite as majestic)
The Blue Planet (all about the seas!)

I have the regular DVD version, and after each Chapter, then it shows a behind the scenes "diary of the production crew" which shows all the ordeals and challenges they faced when trying to get the footage you just saw.  Whether or not they include those on the HD version, I have no idea....

I got it (the DVD version) for my birthday a month ago. I was amazed at how agile the snow leopard was on the rocky slopes while chasing prey. And on the ocean floor, that has the stuff of nightmares.
