Did anyone grab this? I was considering getting it when I saw that VGMWorld listed Sugimori as the composer, but it looks like the GMR page has conflicting information:

I really like the first game's OST, but PW2 and 3 haven't been anything special to me. How does PW4 shape up?

I'm going to say you aren't going to like it, if you didn't like 2 and 3.  I do like Horiyama's stuff on it, some of it sounds right out of Megaman X4.

I picked it up, but I haven't had time to listen to it yet.  I'll post impressions once I do.

I've skimmed it and I can't say I'm impressed by any of it (about 5 tracks total stood out). I'm sure it works good ingame, but it's on par with an average SNES score. Outside of a few tracks (Objection, Cornered), I never thought much of PW's music as a standalone. Not worth dropping $30 on, IMO.

I'm a bit surprised at your indifference to PW3.  It's far more of a spiritual successor to the first score than PW2 was, at least.  It's also the most thematically-pleasing of the three games, in my opinion, and does serve as a nice bookend for the trilogy.  I can't wait to hear the remade DS score.

I am enjoying Gyakuten Saiban 4; not quite as much as PW1 or PW3, but it's worlds better than PW2, and Horiyama's style is punctuated nicely throughout.  In case you missed this thread, you can try a few samples from the partial game rip here:

It's not that I don't like the score, it just hasn't impacted me as much as the first game's did. I should have elaborated more in my first post - I think Sugimori's compositions fit better and have better melodies than Iwadare's stuff for PW3... but if there's a DS OST release for PW3 it I would jump on it for sure. It is much better than whatever PW2 was, hahaha.

Thanks for the link to the PW4 stuff. There really are several Rockman X4 style tunes on here. Not too bad!

I'll have to check it out, I really enjoy Rockman X4's soundtrack.

Indeed.  The stage themes were top-notch.  If any track from PW4 can come close to Jet Stingray's theme, I'm sold.

I've given it a once through now.  I'd put it at "decent" right now, though I'd like to listen to it again.

I have this OST now, and I have to say that I'm really enjoying it. It's an interesting mix of PW-style tunes with an X4 twist. I've also since listened to PW2 and 3 a lot more, and I have been enjoying those as well. The entire series comes recommended, but I'd say that PW4 is a good investment.
