I normally don't notice TV, but last night I heard a moving piece from the end of one of the Simpsons episodes where Homer meets his mother. The credits are rolling and he's staring at the stars. Could somone point me in the right direction?
Film: Joe Hisaishi!!!!!!!!!, Michael Nyman, Phillip Glass, Yann Tiersen, Jan A.P. Kaczmarek, Thomas Nyman
Classical: Err, what?
I forgot a TV one: Shirley Walker
Also, if I was to extend my film composer list to ten, I'd add these:

I own your soul, don't mock me boy.
Besides, Michael Nyman is better than Thomas Newman anyway =p.
Film: John Williams, Danny Elfman, James Horner, Randy Newman, Bruce Broughton, Max Steiner,
TV: Jeff Beal,
Classical: many, Mozart, Satie, Beethoven, Handel,
As for film composers, Trevor Rabin is occasionally good. One of the best main motif writers. His works on Yes are meh, though. I'm not sure how Kosuke Yamashita is classified, but he is presumably a TV composer, and sometimes good too.
film: Howard Shore, Danny Elfman, Joe Hisaishi
TV: Whoever did the music for Arrested Development
Classical: Debussy+Ravel (almost automatic for a Hamauzu fan), Brahms, Bach
Film: Nino Rota, Charlie Chaplin
Classical: Mozart, Bach, etc.
I'll also post my favourite works.
FILM
Love:
Jerry Goldsmith (Planet of the Apes, Logan's Run, The Mummy)
Bernard Herrmann (Psycho, North by Northwest, Journey to the Center of the Earth)
Danny Elfman (Batman, Spider-man, Nightmare before Christmas)
Hate: Zimmer, Badelt, Jyulan
CLASSICAL
Love:
Stravinsky (The Rite of Spring, The Firebird, Symphony of the Psalms)
Béla Bartók (The Miraculous Mandarin -best piece of music ever-; Music for Strings, Percussion, and Celesta; Concerto for Piano no. 2)
Shostakovich (Symphonies no. 5 and 10)
Debussy (La Mer, Suite Bergamasque, Prelude to the Afternoon of a Faun)
Ravel (Bolero, Daphnis et Chloé)
Hate: Boulez, Bach, Mozart
I like all the really big guys of film, but I seem drawn towards the composers that don't get quite as much attention (and/or work). My personal favorite would be Basil Poledouris. Conan the Barbarian and Robocop are just unbeatable in my book. Although what comes darn near close is Bruce Broughton's Tombstone. I also love Vince DiCola solely for his work in Rocky IV.
As for classical, I have a real soft spot for Chopin's Nocturnes. Also love Bach, Beethoven, all the greats.
Conan the Barbarian
Tombstone
Your taste rocks, if I may say so. ^_^
Hate: Boulez, Bach, Mozart
Well, Boulez speaks for itself, really... but I don't care for Bach much either. It made me a pariah in school.
I'd say just about all the above listed film composers falls within a given preference of mine, but I'd like to add Harry Gregson-Williams (Sinbad: Legend of The Seven Seas), Julian Nott (Wallace & Gromit), Shigeru Umebayashi (Fearless), and Javier Navarrete (Pan's Labyrinth).

Heh, thanks. :) It doesn't hurt that the movies are thoroughly awesome as well. It's a win-win situation.
