So, with the release of Sin and Punishment, might we look forward to other releases such as Terranigma?  I know Enix owns the rights (and now, doesn't Square Enix own the rights?) but still, I'd love to see a US release of the game that deserves some attention.

That's up to Square-Enix, who so far has only released Actraiser in the US and shows a hesitancy toward releasing anything else because so much money is found in remakes.

That being said, there is no harm in spamming their NA branch with VC requests---I doubt Chrono Trigger will make it, even though I'd expect it over Front Mission 1 on the DS (WTF!?).  I have no idea what they'd do with Terranigma.  Anyone know if that might get a DS/GBA/PSP/PS2/next-gen remake?

Terranigma was a fantastic game but it wasn't a major success (I mean this literally, not as an understatement) was it? It was nowhere near the success any of the Star Oceans were, or Valkyrie Profile for that matter.
I don't think a VC port is all that unlikely, but a remake? No, I don't think that's gonna happen, it was too small a title for that.

Terranigma probably has a much better chance of seeing a U.S. VC release than most of Squenix's other import-only titles since it's already been translated into English and doesn't have enough name recognition to really work as a DS or PSP remake.  I really enjoyed Soul Blazer and Illusion of Gaia, so I know I'd buy it.

I am curious to know if PAL/NTSC issues could cause some issues with this arriving here since the English version of Terranigma was only made for PAL territories.  On the other hand, maybe the emulators they've developed take care of that stuff automatically.

But wait, does Squenix technically own the rights to Terranigma in North America? I remember Illusion of Gaia was published by Nintendo in the US, and according to Wikipedia, Nintendo also handled the Australian release of Terranigma. If Nintendo saw it fit to release Sin and Punishment in the US, then I'd think Terranigma stands a good chance as well.

My point exactly.  I don't know if I'm just getting my hopes up though...

I supposed I could try and contact SQEX and ask them (pretty sure the answer will be "There are no plans at this time.")

Its a pretty late SNES game (for Europe, anyway), so any issues should be minimal, I'd figure...  I'm sure whatever it would be wouldn't be hard to go over, just take the script from the European English version and replace it into the Japanese game!
