Is it just me? I just got back from going to Wal Mart and I saw a ton of cars with those spinny wheel things on them - those things that keep moving even when the wheels stop - I have no clue what their called because I'm not a "car guy." I don't have a problem with these things but what strikes me is I saw none of them on a nice or halfway decent car... what's the point of "pimping out" a freaking car like a GT Tracker in this sense when it looks like a beater otherwise? It doesn't make me think the driver of that car is cool - it makes me think they needed something to devert my attention away from the fact they don't have or could afford a "slicker" starting point.

Anyways, sry for the rant...

I feel its a waste of money no matter what car.  Though I can envision those old cars with spinning wheels (no, I don't know what they're called either) and thats pretty funny.

Tacky spoilers and wings are my biggest beef when it comes to vehicle accessories.  I LOL'ed at that scene in Pixar's CARS, when that one punk-pimped car had like five of them stacked on top of one another. o_O

Spoilers are awful on cars unless they're modest in size. Not many people know that the downforce they put on the car is only an advantage if your car is capable of incredible speeds (and no, your f---ing Civic with the huge muffler is not a super car).

Aside from that, I hate spinners (those spinning things that are mentioned above, or as the "gangsta" contingent are wont to call them, "spinnahs"), that awful underglow lighting and ugly decals. Basically, if your car looks like it belongs in some kids' Hot Wheels collection, chances are I'll dislike it.

Hey Idolores, whatever happened to the RX that you were going to get?  I know the last time you said you were close to getting one, but did anything come from it?  I was able to test drive an '07 RX-8, and it felt great.  You'd want to get manual transmission, though, as that's the only way to drive a RX.

I also got to try out the Miata, and boy, is it a blast.  I'm seriously thinking of trading in my Mazda 3 for an '08 MX-5.  M/T, of course; I've gotten pretty proficient with manual, and now it's pretty much all I'll drive with. ^_^

Yeah, I was really close to the RX-7, but stuff happened that I really don't want to talk about online. Email me and I'll tell you all about it. As for the RX-8, amazing cars, and I'm envious that you got to try one out.

Also, you're driving manual, huh? That's awesome. A lot of girls are usually preferral (is that a word?) to automatic. Manual is the only way to drive!!

I remember reading that Indy cars would take off if not for the spoiler. I wonder if some unlucky driver found out the hard way....would have been cool for a few seconds.

As long as you a) don't deliberately make your car sound like a lawnmower or go-kart b) invest thousands into a '92 Civic c) be just another obnoxious arse blasting horrible rap music with too much bass, you're ok. Otherwise, you're a sap.

you forgot a dishonorable mention for the people who dance to their music while they're driving.

My physics teacher once said that the best aerodynamic shape for a vehicle would be one that mimics an airplane wing.  However, the more a car is designed like an airplane wing, the more likely the car will lift off the ground at high speeds.  So, car designers and engineers have to build things into the car that counteract this effect.
