Read the article, as a scientist I must say that this is purely speculation and is MUCH more science fiction than science. Definitely, this is Ig Nobel award material! In fact, I nominated him for the award

A majority of the people on this planet already are dim-witted, ugly goblin-like creatures.
Honestly? That sounds like a boring future.
Haha, there's no WAY we're still around in 100.000 years.

quoted for emphasis.
It should go without saying, but consider the source. I wouldn't consider The Daily Mail a reputable source for... anything.

The way we're going the planet will be uninhabitable WAY before that. Maybe we'll move to the moon by that time like the humans in Mega Man X8, that'll solve our problems Oh no, the robots we had build the moon base have gone maverick, what ever will we do!
Sorry, I just had to throw that X8 jab in there.

Before I even saw the pictures I suspected the author had read (or seen) The Time Machine. I don't see evolution having that much role in our future. More likely, we will change ourselves through technology (implants) and possibly convert to pure energy. The only way I can picture us living on places other than the Earth is through altering our bodies ourselves. Evolution works far too slow to allow us to survive on places like the moon. We would need to ship people already converted for moon life, jupiter life, saturn life, venus life, etc. My guess is that it would be cheaper (and safer) to alter human bodies than to try to keep the current human form the way it is while living in alien environments.
I do have to give H.G. Wells some credit though. He did predict the existence of atomic weapons before anyone else, so his notion of distinct sets of humans living above and below ground is not that ridiculous. We don't know the future; something may happen that forces large numbers of people to live underground for a whie. The 'while' could be long enough for evolution to start making changes. If the people living underground came out after millions of years, they would look markedly different from those that remained on the surface.
