I played Harvest Moon on the N64 and loved it!  However, since then there have been a ton of Harvest Moon games to come out, and they all look the same!  I have to admit the DS HM looks good thus far, but will it be another rehash?

So, are there any Harvest Moon fans out there?  If so, what are your opinons?  Which Harvest Moon is the best?

I also know a new Harvest Moon is coming to the Game Cube which might be fun as well, and supposedly will have a main quest.

cheers,

I can't offer much in the way of advice, but from what all the people I have talked to have told me, Harvest Moon (as an entire series) has little that detracts from it. I've heard nothing but good things about it. That, and I've loved every one that I've played, even if my experience with each one is minimal.

I just wanna get "It's a Wonderful Life" because it has a hilarious, scruffy looking homeless man that raids your barn occasionaly, and that, to me, is awesome. Aside from Olly (Ollie?) the magic bum in Tony Hawk 2, I don't think there's ever been a homeless man in a video game.

Well I love Harvest Moon. As for your thinking that they all look the same - well, that's quite true. Some are better than others but there are no dramatic changes to any of them. I suppose that can be taken as a good or bad thing, I don't know.

What I find a little odd about HM is that some just seem to feel better than others even though they are essentially the same game. The GBC ones, to me, just work. Everything about them seems to fall nicely into place. But the GBA one which, to my knowledge, is based on the SNES one just didn't work for me. No idea why. Unfortunately, everything I have seen of the DS version seems to indicate that it is just a slightly souped up version of the GBA one. Unless I hear great things about it, I'll probably give it a miss.

All I can say is that I absolutely loved the original SNES HM and the N64 one. The SNES HM was the first game I got hooked on via an EGM article....I don't know why, it just really caught my attention.

I'm currently attempting to finish the first PS HM (whose name I can't recall). "Attempting" only because I lack the time to fully devote to finishing a game nowadays; it's still as fun as ever, although figuring out the layout of the town takes a little time. Then again, considering I'm only in my 7th day of the game, that's to be expected, heh. After that, I haven't played, but the new elements in other games sound interesting, like the addition of a female farmer and the ability to go fishing.
