Before this weekend I hadn't seen any Twin Peaks. I've heard of it being influential to some of my absolute favorite things (Silent Hill & The X-Files), but I never pursued the show or any DVDs. Well, the Gold Box hit last week which has the full pilot and both seasons of the show, and so far I'm spellbound.

I have only seen the pilot and first episode, and I have to say that the show is creepy, hilarious, mysterious and unsettling all at once. I highly recommend it; even though I'm still real early in the show, it's apparent that the series is a work of art. If anyone has been toying with the idea of checking out the show, you should!

My absolute favourite TV drama. It was first airing when I finished school and started college, and a bunch of us were totally obsessed with it. We got the series when it came out on VHS and marathoned the entire thing, fuelled by coffee, donuts and pizza.

"Can't stand / Twin Peaks / Wish they'd lynch those donut eating freaks."

Even though I already have the two previous DVD sets...
...and even though it would be double-dipping of the highest order...
...dangit, I really lust after this!!! big_smile

Enjoy the ride, Zane. smile

I've heard so much freakin' good stuff about this series, I think I'll end up checking it out.

Yeah, I'm tempted too Squaretex. That new set looks great. Twin Peaks would definitely be in my top five shows ever. So much character, so much atmosphere and a huge amount to think about. It's great stuff.

I just watched episode 8 tonight, which was the 90 minute season 2 opener. I've been taking my sweet time with this up until now, but I don't know how much longer I can hold out at about one episode a week. The end of this particular was absolutely horrifying and instead of feeling like I just turned off my DVD player and walked away from my television, I feel like I just woke up from a nightmare. This show just keeps getting better and better.

I finished up the series this weekend (talk about taking my time!), and I've come to the conclusion that as a whole, this series is only trumped by Seinfeld in my books. The entire series is filler-free and was a damn pleasure to watch. I need to go back and watch them all in order again. As is, this beats out the X-Files by a longshot and is my current favorite TV show. Time for round 2!

Hmmm... Personally, I thought there was a rather big portion in the middle of season 2 that had a lot of filler with lots of nonsensical sub-plots (I hated every time Donna and James showed up on screen during season 2). The series lost a lot of steam after the huge revelation in episode 14 (or 15/16, can't quite remember now), and it only really picked up again toward the end of season 2 (the last two episodes were awesome). Still, Twin Peaks remains my favourite TV show ever, probably the most awesome thing I've ever seen on a screen (and I watched it the first time when I was 10 years old - explains a lot, doesn't it...?).

Don't miss the sequel/prequel movie "Fire Walk With Me". Its about the week before the series begins, and is great in it's own right. Lacks the twisted humour present in the series, but brings the lurking darkness to the fore-front.

I can see that, but I didn't mind them at all.

Ok, good point. I wanted to smack her fairly often. "James... JAMES! Don't leave me, James. Oh, James. James, James and James."
