Has anybody here tried this game?

I have it and it's half adventure (like Phoenix Wright investigation phase) and half Trauma Center/Cooking Mama (Your operations are much more about accuracy, but each procedure in the operation is its own mission)

Haven't played it but I'm very curious about it. I loved the concept behind Trauma Center but very quickly learned to loathe the game and wish terrible things on anyone involved in its creation. Mostly that was down to the speed over accuracy push which seemed to me to miss the potential of a surgery game.

So to hear that Lifesigns is more about accuracy is very encouraging.

There is an accuracy bonus when you complete an operation.  I don't know how it calculates that value, however.

There is this ability called "Concentrate" that you activate by holding down L or R without touching the screen, and you can see where the target lines are.  For things like suturing, however, you don't suture exactly on the lines shown.  I think it's more of a motion suggestion.  Trying to mimic those lines does not achieve the desired results.  So, that is why I am unsure how it derives the accuracy bonus.  When I first played the game, I did get a zero points for accuracy.

After playing into Episode 3, I would say this game is more like an interactive story.  There are not that many operations or convince (think Psyche Locks) situations as I would have thought.  You spend a lot of time getting to know the characters or story though.

Is the translated as terribly stilted and awkward as screens indicate?

Stephen Nov 9, 2007

The translation is ok.  There are some typos in the text, but you can still understand the game very well.  The main character  has a Phoenix Wright attitude (naive about things at first).
